Question for Sheepiepalooza

How do we fit this:

Into this:

:?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

We have this backseat extension thing which covers the footwells so the dogs have the whole backseat, it's definitely enough for Mady and Virginia, but Mady, Virginia AND Gracie (and at the rate Gracie's growing, she'll be the size of a St. Bernard by Sheepiepalooza    )? Short trips maybe, but 40 hours of driving? If we look at putting the backseats down, so they have the whole trunk area, how could we make it more secure so the dogs wouldn't just be sliding around?

It's still up in the air whether we can afford the trip this year, and as I told Kim last night, affordability is more likely if we do NOT have to rent a larger vehicle...

Borrow an open trailer and strap the luggage and maybe a dog or two in there? You could rotate the dogs through the trailer so they each have a turn. Groomering might be an issue when they are done their turn in the trailer. Other than renting a U-haul that's my only suggestion.

PS - don't put Kim in the trailer for a turn - that won't work out well for you.
Naw no way would I put a dog in a trailer.
First you squeeze them into these body suits...modeled by Joy

This makes them smaller and more slippery. :lmt:

Then you pack their stuff, but don't pack anything for you and Kim cause there is no room. :cow:

You know what they say....where there's a will there is a way
I found it~~ the perfect way to travel.................

You need to listen to the whole thing so you know what you are doing~~~~~

(only kidding)....

If you travel with the seats up, you can use saftey belts for all three.

When we (Heart, Harry, Judi and I) travel the seat belt is a godsend!!! They get comfortable, generally with Heart spread out with her head on Harry's tusch ( a nice soft pillow) and poor Harry is scrunched by the door in a tight ball).. . But it works for them~~~~   although I am constantly yelling for Heart to move over and give poor Harry some room...

Just a note::: It is something they need to get use to, before the long trip ~~~

Keep us posted!!!! but, please be aware~~~All of you HAVE to attend....it is tradition!!!! And you know what happens when you break tradition, don't you?????????
You can rent a clamshell, a big bin with a lid for the top of the car. The place you rent it from can strap it on and make sure it's secure, then you put all your luggage and other cr@p in that, leaving the backseat for the dogs. And no, you cannot put Kim in the clamshell!

That's what I was thinking. We call it a turtle, and it may solve your problem. Or less than renting a vehicle, send Gracie to me since she is the growing problem, and I'll make certain she gets to St Louis. :dreidel5:
I rented one of these last year to come to Sheepiepalooza.

I plan to rent one of these to come to Sheepiepalooza this year.

The Jeep is smaller than the Buick so I won't be able to bring Brick's metal crate. But the Buick was too big. I was swimming in that SUV, and I'm not a small guy. Plus it had the bucket seats in the middle row. The boys couldn't get comfortable.
The 1st year, we came in a Ford Focus Wagon:

It's a wagon, but a compact car one.

And we were 3 adults, 3 dogs and all our stuff. It was tight, but we made it just fine. (and that was with everything in the car, no carrier, etc.)
We love our Trooper. The one thing that is of any issue is the floor height is pretty high. Bentley used to be able to just jump into the back seat but Zoey is a lady and insists on help. Caitlyn is still too small to judge but she tries to jump sometimes.

Our little Trooper is 12+ years old and is up for getting replaced and that will be tough to replace it with something that fits our needs and expectations with what's available. It was the largest SUV I could get with a manual transmission at the time. Now, I'm getting lazy and will be looking for an automatic.

I don't know that it is because she is a lady, but we have to boost Izzie's furry butt into a Jetta Sportwagen  Actually, now that I think about it Taylor has followed Izzie's lead and likes a boost too :lmt: He is a bit more work because he looks to you for his boost, but as soon as you start to lift his legs he goes limp :headbang:
Mady used to like getting a boost into the car. But since we've had Virginia, who just jumps right in, Mady is jumping right in too. I think she doesn't want to look bad!
