I see a bird with a big white tail, then I see the white head. I run and get my camera, and run out on the deck barefoot and in my jammies. I couldn't find it. So I come in the house and get my binoculars. I scan the lake and I see it again, he's sitting on the edge of the ice looking at the open water. After awhile he flys off. A couple of weeks ago I swore I saw an eagle flying around. How exciting I hope he comes back, and I can get a picture. Lisa Frankie and Mattie |

Oh I hope so. How exciting! They are such striking birds in flight as well as on the hunt. Speaking of which, one egg down at Decorah! |
That is so cool! They are so awesome to see in the wild. I've seen them a few times down here in Florida. The birds down here are so big and amazing. Their wing spans are breath taking. I saw a white Peacock the other day. I didn't even know there was such a thing. lol |
We see them now too by us. They never used to venture out onto the open farmland areas. We have plenty of little lakes right around us, and the connecting waterways, so they are able to hunt and support themselves. There is a nesting pair just north of us, so they fly right over our house to go to our lake behind the barn. It is so cool!!! I need to make a little trip to check out their nest...as I can't see it well when the trees leaf out. (It's just 5 miles away, a very little trip!) |
