There is a baby gate up at the door of "his" room, and if he hears us approach he runs up and gets excited, etc... BUT if we come out of the living room and peer round the corner (his room is set back slightly next to the living room) he'll stop dead still, and tiptoe in slow motion up to the gate.. and just now I peered round and looked at him and he stared at me and carefully and slowly set his lamby toy down on the floor and started to creep slowly towards me.. Is he maybe apprehensive because he can't see us properly? My mum mentioned it yesterday and I asked her was she peering round the corner she said yes. Is he scared, concerned, confused, or just being silly? ETA: I keep assuming everyone knows he's a pup. He's 16 weeks old (today, actually. ) |

I'm not sure but this seems like something you need to catch on video!!!! He is probably curious why you are doing it and wants to be cautious though. |
HAHA Funnily enough I tried to film it immediately after posting this thread but he was already standing at the gate. I'm sure I'll be able to get it though! Bless him. I'm just worried about every weird thing he does in case it means he's about to viciously attack me or it's a sign of extreme anxiety that will ingrain for his lifetime if I don't do something my first dog, can you tell.... |
Sounds like the kind of thing Saxon does when he can't see properly (we decided to go with the trimming route for his head, rather than top knot.. and sometimes I don't get around to trimming before it gets that bit too long ). He has been known to go out into the back garden on a night and very very slowly tiptoe his way towards his favourite rugby ball, as if he's never seen it in his life, or it's about to attack him suddenly - He's always been a bit weird with things that he doesn't expect to see though (like bins on the path on bin day).. I'm sure it's because he never truely looks where he's going.. (and the cats can attest to that ) |
Sounds like he is stalking you Langley does this to Laika. |
For Oscar, this slow motion staring contest is a prelude to playtime. I catch his eye and move very slowly, he stares at me and moves very slowly, and then, whammo, he lunges for a toy and playtime begins! Laurie and Oscar |
My neurotic boy does this. Usually its just when I open the kitchen door to let him out, he kind of slinks. My thought is anxiety because he can't see properly. |
