Abby's Home!

Our little girl is finally home!

We are all pretty exhausted, and it is time to feed her so I will give a better, more detailed update tomorrow. She is going to require alot of special care during the next few weeks. We have to try to keep her as inactive as possible(this should be fun) Also she needs elevated feedings every 4 hours and I have to keep a very close eye on her for any oozing or swelling from the incision sites.

Here are a few photos taken of her when we arrived home. She has been shaved right to the skin (bald) under where you see the yellow gauze and wrap.

Welcome home sweetheart! I can't wait to see you fatten up!

Her eyes seem to say that she's unsure about something.
She's probably thinking, "what the heck just happened the past few days?!?!"

Praying that the little peanut recovers quickly.

This one just hurts my heart.

Its like she's saying "I'll just stay in here...where its safe."

Poor little miteymite, get better little girl.
She needs some fuzzy stuffies to snuggle against.....she looks so forlorn.
So good to see the little sweetie home. Cross fingers for quick healing and back to being a fun sheepie pup.
Welcome home..this precious sweetie continues to steal our hearts, so happy our prayers continue to be answered :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:

Wondering if it was time for some pain meds... she's only a couple of days into the healing process and has been through
a lot of change and medical procedures the past few days.

I sent a note last night about the stuffies too. Maybe she would be cradled between the front and back legs of a soft toy.
Image

If she has big vertical incisions behind the elbows, a toy may help to support her in a more upright position. Bumble had
two but only on one side... and he tended to flatten his stuffies doing that.

Bless her, thanks so much for posting the pics. I am sure she will be up and bouncing very soon (but not too soon).

:hearts: :hearts: To you all
I took those photos as soon as we arrived home. The look was from the pain meds......she was on IV pain meds and they gave her a dose right before we left so she was really, really out of it.

Feedings are going very well. She has not regurgitated once since the surgery. She is so different this morning compared to yesterday. She is so spunky and full of energy and is really angry she is not allowed to run around....poor baby. That seems like it will be our biggest challenge the next few weeks.
Wonderful Abby got her spunky back. Is it just her has all her litter mates found homes??

I have a show male here still.....all the rest are in their new homes.
Sweet she will have someone close to her size to hang with when she feels better.
:hearts: :hearts: I was soooo excited to see this info this AM. :excited: :cheer: :hearts: :hearts: Since I do NOT own a computer, I called Nancy H Friday after I got home and asked her to look on forum to see how Babydoll Abbey was doing after the surgery and if the problem was found. I was in tears not knowing. When she told me I had happy tears and was hugging my dogs telling them Abbey made it thru surgery!!! :excited: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :clappurple: :hearts:. I have still been keeping good thoughts and prayers going for her. I am glad she is home with you, Amber. Now with all the love, hugs and kisses she will thrive and heal. I fell for that little dolly when I first saw her pictures, the same way I fell for my Amazing Grace's picture and knew she had to be mine. :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: Get lots of rest, and take good care of yourself. Lots of love to   :ghug: :ghug: :ghug: :ghug: :hearts: :cheer: :cheer: you :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:

I'd have a kagaroo baby carrier and would be carrying her around all the time, such a sweet thing. Puppies bounce back quickly, yes she will be difficult to confine. I'm sure she'll tell you all about her misery in loud puppy voice.
:aww: Poor little Abby! :hearts:
Wonderful that she is home and safe
and angry for not coming out to the others.
That's a good sign for her recovery.
Bless her tiny little heart. So cute. Give her a really gentle hug from me please. :hearts:
awwww....i would be carrying her around too.....that little sweetheart would be on my lap 24/7 :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
so happy to hear she is getting better.

I think the picture of her with the boots in the back ground pretty much shows just how tiny she is, the boots are bigger than her.

So glad she will be able to grow big and strong now. Such a beautiful little girl.

Maybe she can come to sheepiepalooza so we can all give her hugs and kisses!!

I thought she looked either confused or "shell-shocked" rather than fearful. Heavy medication could easily account for that as I saw it in our poor Dawnie last year after her big surgery. Glad (predominantly) that has worn off but now pity you trying to keep the little tyke quiet, especially given the description you gave about her personality and activity level in other threads.

Did the vets offer any opinion as to whether or not this was in large part responsible for Abby being so small for her age (three pounds at 8 weeks was incredibly small)? And if that was the case what are the chances that she will now be able to "catch up" and become a normal sized Bobtail? Obviously it will take time for her to grow. Perhaps she will just be 5-6 weeks "behind schedule" of most puppies at any given age. It would make sence that if she wasn't getting adequate nutrition because of this ailment then her physical development would have been arrested. And fortunately it seems any problems were limited to physical growth as your descriptions have indicated she has developed normally as far as personality and other mental capabilities.

Glad to hear good reports on this one. They are all precious but those who have especially unfair challenges such as this perhaps tug our heartstrings just a little bit more strongly.

Thanks and Cheers

Carl
