Mo: recovery day#1

Started early and on a stressful note. Woke up to Mo having a seizure at 3a. He seemed to be 'asleep' through it and after the tremors etc. continued sleeping panting rather hard. About 45 mins later he woke up crying and whining. I went ahead and fed him and gave him his meds (seizure meds, antibiotics and pain meds) -- good appetite, went out and pooped (OUCH!!!). He seemed really out of sorts and lost outside and it took me a bit to get him back in (lets not forget that the back yard is packed with snow and more was coming down as we were out there @4am...)

He's much more oriented and mellow since but has not stopped pacing for the past 8 hours! He doesn't seem panicked or in pain per se but just sad to think he can't relax. Seems to humor me at times to allow me to massage him for a few minutes as he stops by but then right back to circling the space. Tried to gate him off a bit, but that seemed to incerease his anxiety and brought on the barking.

So just hanging in here with repeated attempts to encourage him to settle down... Poor puppy. :(

:( Poor buddy.

Since he's again more oriented, I'd wonder if it's discomfort. What kind of pain meds is he taking?
You might ask your vet whether an added tramadol or other med would be appropriate. Did you
let your vet know about the seizure?
Poor Mo, I'm so sorry. No advice here, just support. Sending hugs and hope that he will be feeling better soon. :ghug: :ghug:
Oh no my post got lost somewhere... If it shows up, my apologies for duplicate info...

Anywhoo, he is currently on Rimadyl for pain management. I spoke with the vet earlier. Mo has a pre-existing seizure disorder and had another seizure at the vet's office. He has been pretty stable since his rescue in December, but has had a few episodes in connection to medical procedures or soon thereafter -- thinking stress induced? He has been pacing quite a bit since coming to our home two weeks ago, but it had decreased significantly. Now it feels we're back to day one. Darn.

He just laid down and fell immediately asleep!!! :yay: :yay:

Thanks again for all the healing thoughts everyone!

Poor Mo. I bet a good sleep will help. You should go nap too-I am sure it has been a busy stressful time.
Sending good wishes and hugs to you and Mo. :ghug:

Glad he was finally able to lay down and get some rest.
Sending hugs and good wishes to you and Mo.
While he's sleeping you should try and take a nap also.

So sad. I know one OES who would be blind after a seizure. Takes time for the brain to quit "quivering." I wish they could speak and tell us what's happening.
Poor Mo. I hope you all get a good night's rest tonight and that things are brighter tomorrow.
Poor Mo. :( :( I hope his system gets settled down soon and he can get on the mend!

I'm guessing the surgery itself went well though? :crossed: :crossed:
Get well Mo! :ghug:
How is Mo doing today?
Hoping he's feeling better and that he's had no more seizures.
Mo is doing much better!!!! No other seizures. Pacing less every day. Back side shows no signs of irritation/infection.

This sounds odd, but I'm kinda enjoying his little spurt of barking lately. He is so aloof to life in general that it's nice to see him determined and insistant to get his needs met. :)

So over all it seems life is back on its way to finding what our normal will be....and at this point it's the basics of poop belongs to outside of the house and pretty smelling things inside.

So glad things are going well! :clappurple:
Yay! :clappurple:

I'm glad things are straightening out after surgery. :D :D
Good news.
:D
Glad to hear things are going well.
