Now looking at Holiday Trailers...any suggestions?

Okay we can pull up to 3000 lbs, which in a new trailer can be big. Looking for a good name to check out, this trailer will be ours until the day we die, and then the kids will get it kinda thing.

We would want one that sleeps min 6, shower, portapotty, water can be cold, or hot and cold, fridge, stove...oven not necessary, and a easy to operate furnace. Lots of storage, and looks nicely designed. Kinda like a home, sofa, table, bed in the back (hidden by a curtain if possible), can hold 2 dogs. Awning would be nice if it's included. Looking at 19 ft.

Who makes a good solid trailer? That you consider a smart design, and easy to haul around .

Thanks for the tips and suggestions, then I can take a list and go check them out. We have so many RV places, I don't know where to start, and of course each dealer will say their's is best. I need to narrow them down.

I looked at one last year that was a hybrid cross ??? It was a tent trailer with a holiday trailer in one. The beds popped out the front and back like a tent trailer, and the center was the holiday trailer, complete with fridge, stove, shower, bathroom, table. The master bed was King size. Does anybody know what these are like? They are small, compact and super light.

I don't know anything about the popups, but both my brother & SIL and my sister & BIL recently bought Jayco campers and they really like them. Easy to pull and very well equiped for the money. I'll be camping with my brother's family at the beach in a few weeks and Beau will have to sleep with me on the sofa - should be plenty of room! 8)
Well I was wrong, here I was thinking the new trailers would be lighter they are not. Our truck has a max pull of 5000lbs, so we were looking for a 3000lb trailer...all in this catagory is the hyrbrid, or tent trailers. I like the extras the hybrid comes with but I don't want to sleep in the tent part.

but alas there is good news, I found a 2005 Jayo Featherlite model, in our weight range, 18 ft, with jack and jill bunks, and queen bed fold outs. Sleeps max 5, bathroom, shower, cd/am/fm, microwave, oven, range top, air cond, awning, lots of storage...great trailer. Best warranty too.

Now the price is under $16,000 CAD, and we can payments as low as $200 and double up or plunk down more whenever we can. Hubby doesn't want to get a new trailer, he doesn't want to change anything now. Very frustrating for me, now that I have our old one almost sold....we have it listed and 5 people want a chance to look at it. So it is sold, and we had sold the tent last year...

I suppose we can rent this year, but that is still gonna cost up to $1000, after all is said and done.

So if anyone is looking for trailers, I reccommend the Jayco Featherlite.
Daisie,

What is your objection to sleeping in the foldout tent section of the hybrid trailers? A 19 foot hybrid gives far more space and utility than a 26 ft or so travel trailer you would have to buy to get the equivalent features, space and sleeping capacity. I have a Jayco 12FK tent trailer and have never had any problem sleeping in the "tent" end beds. They are waterproof, plenty warm on cool nights, well ventilated on warmer nights and mine has a king size bed one end and queen size one the other and the privacy curtains isolate the beds in case of camping with other couples/kids. Now if it actually had an air conditioning instead of only being air conditioner ready!!

Unfortunately the tent trailer is far too small for the entire gang of us to go to dog shows so it will go up for sale and once we can afford a newer full size van we'll look at getting a bigger trailer at which point a hybrid with the fold down end bunks will be a strong contender.

Thanks and Cheers

Carl
No real objections since I haven't actually used a hybrid. But I have slept in the pop up tent trailer...I found it damp, can't sit up in bed, can't touch the side walls, crowded, no floor space...now that was in the 80's at a friend's house. It was a big tent trailer I guess.

Now I grew up using a travel trailer, by Holidaire, we had a table, couch and a bunk...it was pull into a site and basically ready to go. It was always warm, dry, I wasn't allowed to use the bathroom if we were at a campsite with facilities...it wasn't a big deal. Anyways I was spoiled I guess....but my hubby and I tented for the first 5 yrs, and the last year we had a trailer...we have the kids, and will never tent again if I can help it. I am worried the kids will damaged the tent ends, it amazing what can happen in a split second with "the boy"

Now, I have taken a closer look at the hybrids, and it just comes down to personal preference. It's nicely designed, has alot of new amenties, and light. But if we go somewhere, arrive late, I just want to park and go to sleep...set up properly the next day. We might rent one this year...we'll see.

All trailer buying is now on hold, we have a big problem with the Blazer and are forced now to trading it in. So it's back to get a new SUV vs a new trailer, and with a new SUV we will be able to get any trailer we want. But it will be an old one again, probably in the 70's early 80's range...so I will have to wait to get the one I really like.
