Keep your schedule open for September 28-30, 2012!!! The Second Annual Dayton Sheep-In will be held during this weekend which is the same weekend as the Tipp City Mum Festival in Tipp City, OH, just north of Dayton, OH. Speaking of the Mum Festival… I’ve been in contact with the person in charge of the parade and she’s all but begging our little furry group to participate IN the parade! The parade’s theme will be announced soon, so I’ll post that when she calls me. This will give us a great chance to both dress up our Sheepies if we want and show them off to a huge crowd, usually on local TV!!! Last year, we had fifteen Sheepies from six states. Yeah, the weather was a little iffy early on, but the day turned out to be spectacular. The day as whole turned out being one of the best days I’ve had with dogs. I know that this is the very next weekend after The Nationals in Wisconsin, but it worked out well being the same weekend as the Mum Festival, I want to keep it there. Last year, Joanna, AKA oesrocks) set up a Google spreadsheet that helped out TREMENDOUSLY! So much that I’m using the same one this year. Please use the below link to sign up and bring what you like. https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aqq8HGPTWWwFdEh0QVhKVjF5d1JpUV9vampMSFVWb1E&hl=en_US So save up some vacation days after SheepiePaLooza and the Nationals and we’ll see you in Tipp City in September!!! Vance, Jen, Zoey and of course, Caitlyn |

Just checked with hubby - count us in! Benson will be a seasoned traveler in no time. |
Great Diane! Love to have you all. I'll post hotel info and anything else I need to as we go. We'll be using the same hotel if possible as everyone was treated very nice and they got a discount. Vance |
I am really hoping we can make it again this year!!!! It was so much fun!!! I was afraid Dino would be bored, not having been to any sheepie-related events (ex. for the LOOZA)... But he had a ball!!!!! and I had a ball..and oh yea!!! Heart really enjoyed it too!!! She loved that she was able to play with all the sheepies AND have her daddy all to herself!!!!! |
September is high school football season , with kids in band means we cant go ANYWHERE till Christmas. Sounds fun though, please post lots of pictures. |
After Nationals I will be dead tired, broke, and have no vacation time left..... |
We'd love to attend and meet everyone. Charm would love it as well Fingers crossed that our son and fiancée won't choose that weekend for the wedding |
Tell them to come to Ohio TO get married!!! Heck, my son dragged all of his wedding party to Jamaica! And there weren't even any Sheepies there!!! Vance |
I've marked my calendar! You do believe in planning ahead don't you! |
Going to put this on the calendar--sounds fun! |
After all the fun we had last year, I hope everyone who wants to come can make it. They too will have fun. I know that this may not be the best date throughout the year, but one thing that kept going through my mind when doing this last year was to make the event fun and have something to do along with the event. With this festival that Jen and I are big fans of, we wanted to do it then. I also decided prior to the event last year was that if it was a success, I wanted to make it a regular event and the best thing to do was to keep it consistent with regards to the date. That and I couldn't really ask them to reschedule their Festival, now could I? I know from my car show experience that you can't nail a perfect date with everyone. You have to pick a date, stick to it and hope that those who you want to show up do. With luck and planning, the event will grow to the point where everyone you want to show up will make YOUR event the priority for the date you pick. So, that's what Jen and I are working towards. We hope to see anyone who wants to come and will do our best to make it well worth your time. Thanks, Vance & Jen |
Far out there but glad to see the dates. I don't believe we have anything scheduled so Kenny may be in attendance |
Rob, after all the 'guy talk' on the SheepiePaLooza thread, I'm working on a couple things for the Sheep-In so stay tuned... Vance |
I got an email earlier today from Mary, the woman in charge of the Mum Festival Parade and she said the theme for the 2012 Mum Festival Parade is "Vintage Mums......Long Live the 50's". I'm thinking we could have fun with this... I told Jen about this and her response was, 'poodle skirts... MEH! We'll have Sheepie skirts!' So think about this for a while and see what we can do... Vance |
Maybe I can talk Brandon into doing this instead of throwing me a birthday party... I'd much rather do this thank have reminder of how old I am! He seems pretty hell bent on a party (the big 40) but I'll give it a shot he went through serious sheepiepalooza withdrawal the last few weeks so I'll work with that. |
We have got to make this one. We missed last year and we missed Sheepiepalooza. If our family would just stay well and alive we might be able to make it. I will be teaching at a new school this fall and I don't even have the calendar yet. Hopefully they don't have anything that I HAVE to be there for that weekend. I would really love to meet some of you and Carley wants to meet everyone. I am putting it on my calendar. Carley's Mom |
Ooh! This looks fun! If I can talk Jacob into it, we are so coming!! It's only a four hour drive for us. What all goes on at a "Sheep-In"? |
Jade, last year was our first year and while I had many things planned as far as games for the Sheepies and owners, many seemed very happy just sitting around and meeting the new people and catching up with the old friends. and honestly, it was all good with me. Everyone had a great time, Sheepies ran the dog park and we had some great home-made food brought in, including my now famous Bacon Explosion! After time spent at the dog park, some of us went to the Mum Festival and wandered around putting smiles on every face we passed. Each year on the Friday of the Mum Festival they hold a cruise-in downtown, so for those who choose to come in a day early there is that for the hubbies. I'm also working on something really big if anyone comes in real early on Friday. I'll post details as I get them. What I will tell you is that this is something for the men and the women AND OF COURSE THE SHEEPIES. Here are some of the threads with photos from last year - http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=34847 http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=34840 http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=34834 http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=34846 http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=34837 And of all the videos, this is easily my favorite. It's Schubert stealing a kiss from Caitlyn and then Zoey chasing him off to protect Caitlyn's honor... We'd love to have anyone who can make it! Vance |
Bacon Explosion sounds awesome! We have this stuff called Baconnaise, we found it at Mejier and I put it on like everything. This sounds totally awesome though, and Jacob has agreed! So we should be there! Bailey is allowed to come too, right? |
Bailey and the family will plan on attending!!! Thanks to Vance for putting together a fun, OES, OH event!!! |
The ENTIRE family is welcome!!! Watch for updates as we get closer to September. Vance |
Gertie, Doug and myself will be there again. Thanks |
Thinking of 50's style for those who weren't around: Girls: Yes, poodle skirts, bobby socks and saddle shoes, full skirts, cashmere sweaters with the pompom ties........and pearls..........Val?? Guys: Elvis wear or James Dean leathers, big print nylon shirts (more than Hawaiian), bowling shirts ( ), fedoras. Little girls: ruffles, polkadots. |
I think we're still going to try and make it!.....kinda far out to say for certain though |
Well ink us in now so no crazy skiing or European trips get booked instead! Vance |
