Harry was at the vet and had hair removed from his ears and ear mites treated. We were given Canaural and told to administer 4 drops in each ear morning and night. The problem is that Harry has been sick 2/3 times a day since he came out of the vets. Has anyone ever experienced this when using them? He's going to the vet this afternoon but I'm worried so any feedback would be appreciated. NB. He got his kennel cough spray at the same time but I wouldn't have thought that would give a reaction. Look forward to hearing from you all...thanks |

My fear would be did they damage the eard drum during cleaning?

I would think his ear infection has spread to the inner ear, affecting balance and causing fever and nausea. The drops will not be enough to combat that kind of infection, so I would head back to your vet and request oral antibiotics. |
Willowsprite, I am impressed! Harry was at the vet yesterday afternoon and was diagnosed with a middle ear infection, which was causing the sickness. When I think about it, he was clumsier than usual (ie. he tripped over his own feet after walking into the rotary dryer) but he's a pretty clumsy pup usually and I didn't know what to look for. He was given anti-nausea tablets and oral antibiotics to treat the infection and has not been sick yesterday or today, which is fantastic.
It's such a learning curve...worrying at times but at least I'll know what to look for in the future. Have you experienced it with either of your dogs before? ps. had a look at your website - gorgeous pics! |
