at night. Recheck in 6 weeks. Her weight fluctuates between 58-61lbs shes a petite girl. Any ideas. Her coat is really thin, the groomer told me to mention it the next time we saw the vet( I forgot) and we only saw a tech today for a blood draw. When we first brought her home the vet did a cushings test, they thought for sure she had it then her blood work or however they test for it leveled off to make it negative. Just throwing things out as I think about it. Lisa Frankie and Mattie |

My dog ame back as borderline low...we started with one mg in the am and one in pm...recheck and upped it to 1 and 1 half tab am and same for pm, every day. We uses Solixine...small purple pill...We do one and a half tab twice a day..So far so good for us. But my male is about 110 pounds... He hasn't rally lost weight. But his whole outlook seems improved. He is a different dg then before. he used to be sad, lethargic, not wanting to get up in the morning, not wanting to play...just a sad looking dog. since he's been on this dose, and its over a year now, he is just a different dog. Happy again, playing, gets up and wants to get out side. Just his face is happy. Like his old self... Hope you get this worked out. The right med and the right dosage can make such a difference... |
Does she take her meds on an empty stomach or with food? Just wondering if taken on an empty stomach if it might help to maintain a more consistent level... but maybe this is the way you give it anyway? |
Jaci I usually give it to her about 1 1/2 to 2 hours after she eats. Since we got her she's never been very active. Is that how I should be giving it? Diane This last time we changed her dose, she started to play more with Frankie and they say on her one day a week at daycare how she plays more than she ever has. She initiates the play with him So your are right at how much it can change them. Thanks for your help I knew you guys would have answers. Lisa Frankie and Mattie |
Where do you store the meds.? I have a friend who's sheltie had a hard time regulating, come to find out from her vet the meds should be stored in the fridge. Erin/Gertie |
I know for humans, it's best given on an empty stomach. When I was a night nurse at our hospital, Thyroid pills were over half of my 6am meds I gave on rounds in the morning! |
