Also, Winston has to be coached to eat. I have to stand by his dish and hand feed him some food before he will eat it out of his bowl. |

How much does he weigh-- more specifically, is he too thin, fat or just right? When he does eat, is he eating the amount that he should? All dogs grow at different rates and if your Winston is doing well on what you have him on, keep him on it for a few more months. There are reasons, like growing too fast, too much protein and others that support going off puppy food, but if your vet suggested it Winston may be fine just how he is. I asked my vet if I should take my 8 month old off and he said that he was doing well, was a good weight and, since it agreed with him, keep him on it for a few more months and see how he progresses until his next checkup and he would advise from there. |
I would go with what your breeder recommends. Your breeder knows your dog, it's lines, better than your vet or anyone else. OES vary so vastly from dog to dog, in size, temperment, trainability, appetite, sensitivity to foods, vaccinations, medications etc. Only your breeder will know what works best for your puppy. JMO |
My terrier mix was fed a puppy food when she was a puppy, but with larger breeds, it often gives them a growth spurt which isn't good. |
