(I wonder where the breeder is for this guy? He is obviously registered!) Forest is a Special Doggie! Michigan Humane Society - Rochester Hills Center for Animal Care, Rochester Hills, MI (248) 852-7420 Hi everyone. Let me introduce myself, My name is Forestviews Bentley Silver Cloud, but I go by Forest for short. I am a 1 and 1/2-Year-Old Old English Sheepdog. I weigh 64.7 pounds and I am pretty much full grown. I am a very active and playful boy. I do know the commands for "sit" and "shake" but I do need some help to polish up my basic manners. I tend to get soo excited when I see you that I jump up to say hi! I know that this is not a good thing and I am working on learning not to. I will need an experienced owner and an active household. I will need to have a large, fenced-in yard where I can run off my energy on a daily basis. I must meet all members of the family prior to adoption, and this includes any other doggies in the home. I must be in a home with CHILDREN 14 YEARS AND OLDER. When I came to the Shelter I had an existing condition of Cherry Eye. Cherry Eye is the term used to refer to "canine nicitans gland prolapse, which is a common congenital eye defect where the third eyelid prolapses and becomes visit. This will need to be repaired. My adopter will be responsible for this cost. This condition will NOT resolve itself on itself and will only continue to become worse. While I have been tolerant of having my earns cleaned and my eyes being medicated, I have show little to no tolerance for tail trims and sometimes even general handling of my paws. If I am not muzzled while my nails are being trimmed, I will try and bite you. Please be sure that you let my new vet know that I do not like having my paws handled. Because of these conditions I am considered a "Special Adoption". What this means is that my adopter will need to sign a contract stating that they are aware of these conditions. |

Any word?? |
Breeder was contacted about Forest. She did not contact shelter or make arrangements to help Forest. Forest is now with OESR of MI being evaluated for cherry eye and possible ortho issues. Absolutely a delightful dog. Sandy |
Thanks so much for the update, Sandy. (good to see you here, too!) |
Yay for MI rescue! |
Well... I'm glad he's with you then, Sandy. He's now safe and out of that more stressful environment. Any ideas on how much his medical care is going to cost you? Any hope the breeder may at least pay for medical care? Please keep us posted on how this boy does. I've been thinking more about the differences between responsible and irresponsible breeders... Responsible breeder's dogs are never truly homeless because someone always cares enough to quickly reclaim the dog. Shelters, animal control and rescues on the other hand are where dogs from irresponsible breeders are forced to stay... if they're lucky... because they are indeed homeless. Someone else has to take on the financial, space and resource burden or the dog suffers. |
Update on Forest--poor guy has kennel cough. Working through that and helping him feel better is priority now. More extended evaluation for him put off until this is resolved. Sandy |
Darn... the environment of the shelter and stress. Hoping it clears up soon. |
