Suggestions on getting Laika on the grooming table?

She won't do it any more. She also won't get into the tub. If I take her to the groomers she is fine. So it is me of course. She doesn't like being pushed you have to tell her. I think I asked her up and she would do it and I tried to move her towards it and she growled and well I "submitted" and now she is the boss of me apparently. HELP!!!

Inca doesn't like being pushed either.. she just shuts down or becomes defensive.. but luckily she will do anything for a treat! So in difficult situations (including getting her on the grooming table) I usually lure her with a treat.. or put the treat up on the table so she has to jump up with her two front feet, then I lift the back end up. The OH sometimes doesn't have patience for that so just picks her up from standing and carries her to the table.. but after hurting my back I don't pick her up anymore.. so I always use bribery!

Might not work so well if you don't have a super treat-focused dog.. but could be some help!
Yep Laika shuts down that is what it seems like. No amount of tempting treats will work either.

My trainer said to make it fun and don't let her over analyze, going to try that tonight. POSITIVE thoughts...
what if you put her dinner on the grooming table? Start associating something other than being brushed with the area- something she likes?
I will try see if she will get up there to eat it, then let her get down without brushing her. Hmmm maybe  thanks!

---thing is I cannot lift her she is too heavy.
I provide a chair for Tonks and Luna, as an intermediate step between the floor and the table. I don't want to lift them, and I never properly trained them to get up on their own.

Try making a game of it; up on the tablke, squeekie toy, tug of war, back on the floor, they get the toy. Repeat. It becomes silly fun, and you are playing with Laika... so the table takes on a new demention beyond just being a place of torture.
I consider myself lucky; both our girls will walk up and throw their front feet up and look at me as if to say 'Come on, I can't do it all by myself!'. They're both pretty good on the table.

I back the grooming table against the couch and they jump on the couch and up on to the grooming table.

yeah she did it for a long time. Then POW no more won't get into the tub either.
Making it fun sounds like the way to go in the absence of bribery (I'm 'blessed' to have one greedy sheepie  )

Hmmm.. wonder what has made her have a negative association with it? Inca has never been much of a fan of grooming so it's nothing new for us.. luckily for us her younger counterpart is much better and often when trying to tempt Inca up, Saxon will jump up in her place ("look I can do it!! brush me instead!!" :yay: )
stubborn female. Got her way once. Now she won't get up on the table or into the tub. Oh well and she hates to be groomed. Her fur is very soft, she seems so sensitive to brushing. Langley you can practically rip his fur out and it doesn't bother him. His fur hardly mats either.

Kudos!!!!!! Great idea.

Well I have two tables. One tall but not very long one. I had that one out for some reason. Put the dish up on that nope! She actually went and layed down having nothing of it.

Then I thought perhaps I should try the other table.

So I just stood there and pat her and praised her not brushing. I will do that for a few days and then progress to brushing. WOW hope this keeps up. Now will she it her supper in the tub. ewww! Good start. Thanks :aww:
Sweet!! :clappurple: :clappurple:
If I take a can of dog food and a spoon, set it on a corner ledge of the tub, call a dog over and say
"in", they'll eagerly climb in. Do you use a non-slip mat in the bottom of the tub for more traction?
