1. Does the tail make the dog look longer 2. There is nothing in the breed standard about the tail 3. Does the tail change the movement of the OESD So the tail affects how the OESD runs & looks. So this changes the concept on the breed standard Not too sure how this affects the USA. Are they going to stop docking over there ? |

first question no, judges judge to the standard regardless of if there is a tail or not. Your breeder judging OES in Denmark last year (C. Barnes) , over 20 years I think now no docking and having a tails in denmark and a tail is not what the breed is judged on, it's always been the overall structure, type and movement that comes first and a tail does not alter the dog or make it a hinderance at all. Yes there is a tail on this OES who went BIS at the breed specialty over there under Mr. Barnes. If your dog is long in loin then it is long in loin regardless of if there is a tail or not. OEs with a tail still looking compact regardless of the waggy thing hanging off the butt. FCI strandard for the tail. TAIL Customarily docked or natural bobtail. Docked : Customarily completely docked. Undocked : Unobtrusive when standing. Low set. Never curled or carried over back, with no kink evident. Well feathered with abundant hard-textured coat. UK are still arguing over any sort of standard for the tail. No does not change the movement of the dog. ex. with tail on the move Without tail on the move And no the tail does not affect how the oes runs and looks, especially on the stack. And does not change the concept of the breed standard. USA still docks along with Canada and so does New Zealand. Not many countries around the world now have OES with docked tails. Bans have been in here in Australia since 2004. Hope this helps with answers to your questions. |
Thanks for that & like your pics as well & good answer to the questions. Yep Colin & Pauline are very good & allways helps us but its good to get other peoples view about the tail as I know most people would rather not have the tail but I do wonder if the dog would like to have them or not but we would never no that as they cannot talk |
