I have been lurking on this forum for some time now as my husband and kids have decided it was time to get another dog. Our precious 'Kia' a rescued border collie passed away last May due to cancer. She was 12 and while I thought she would be around for much longer her passing was sudden and left us grief stricken. We miss her terribly and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about her. We decided we needed a pet to fill the emptiness in our house and brought home two baby bunnies from a pet store. We cuddled them and played with them. Gave them all assortment of boxes and toys and even though we loved them so much, they were just not a dog. We found we were giving much love to them but not feeling the love in return (not that all bunnies are this way, we were just finding this) I guess once a dog family always a dog family! Deciding that bunnies just were not for us we found them a very loving home with a two year old boy who thinks the world of them. Last I talked with his parents, the bunnies were having fun and enjoying free reign in their house as they did ours. We were on our hunt for a puppy. One thing that Kia was very good at was sitting still and absorbing all the pets she should could possibly get. I often thought about joining a dog therapy organization with her but knew she wouldn't pass due to her neurotic border collie traits. I wanted this new dog to have the start that Kia never had and be trained as a therapy dog. We love working dogs. Their smarts, their agility, the way the aim to please with the desire to be the best they can be. After much investigation and visiting a lovely family in Edmonton, Alberta we decided to get an OES. We visited the momma dog and her son in the summer and instantly fell in love with their big personalities and goofy looking faces. My husband and I went to a grooming show to watch the momma dog be groomed to review the grooming needs of the breed and confirmed that one of her puppies would be perfect for us. We are happy to announce that we have picked a beautiful little boy and have named him Mungo. He is dearly loved and hasn't even graced our home yet (he is 4 weeks old). We have been visiting the puppies every two weeks and are counting down the days Mungo comes to his new home. We can't wait to be part of the OES family and are fortunate we have found such lovely people along the way. Can’t wait to share pictures! Cheers! Theresa |

WOW! Thank you so much for all the welcome wishes! That is so nice! Both my husband and I are very Scottish. My maiden name is Hunter and his is McCracken. Mungo is a very old Scottish/Gaelic name which means 'dearly loved'. We thought it was perfect for him! The name Mungo goes quite far back in history, there was even a Saint Mungo! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Mungo We are going up to see Mungo again this weekend. He will be 6 weeks old and I will surely post more pictures of him. Cheers! Theresa |

Hey All, Just thought I would give you all an update. Mungo is doing great! He is a charmer that's for sure! He is doing great at therapy at the care centre...all those cotton tops remember his name but don't remember mine! lol! He is sooo much fun, is into a great routine, has finished his puppy school and is well on his way to being a great dog! We love him to bits! Here is a picture of him about a month ago. We recently graduated to a top knot! Cheers! Theresa |

Welcome Mungo and family to our family of sheepie lovers. The most important part of being in our group is LOTS of puppy pictures. Congratulations |
He looks adorable! More pictures please! |
Hi! @SheepieBoss - Mungo is home now with us. We brought him home when he was 9 weeks old. We only had one night of his crying when he came home and that was it. He was sleeping in his kennel at night but has now moved into my husbands and I's bed. He isn't a bed hog which is good but sure makes it known when it is time to get up in the morning! He is pretty darn cute and is a charmer that's for sure! We often get stopped on walks by people and kids who want to see him. They are not a common dog up here and even though most know what type of dog he is they still ask. Many say he is the first sheep dog they have seen! Mungo is already 40lbs and has out grown his kennel that stays in during the day when we are not home. We are going to buy him a new one this weekend! Here is another picture of him about 2 weeks ago... Cheers! Theresa |
