Since I've been a little kid I've always brought home unwanted animals. Even as young as 12 I babysat and made sure I raised the money for their spaying or neutering. As a grown person I continued to take in usually the older unadoptable animals. Shaggy whom I often speak of on this forum is now 15 a former pound dog. I also have Blue also a rescue dog and 3 cats and a kitten from the Humane society. This summer when I thought I was going to lose her I was desperate for another dog...so got a list of breeders and had my name on one that I chose. Happily Shaggy is still with me...she sorta had a remission and my new puppy is arriving next week. Now the point why I feel quilty...I would have loved a rescue dog but there were none available in my area. So I'm feeling quilty that I'm getting a puppy when there are so many dogs out there that need homes. Don't get me wrong I am thrilled about getting a puppy ...just feeling a bit quilty. That's it...thanks for letting me vent. |

In my official role here, I am in a position to offer you solace and absolution. Your pennance will be to send lots of puppy pictures!
Please don't feel guilty, there are LOTS of ways to help rescue dogs besides being the forever home! Ron (... and Winston) |
Thanks Ron for your vote of encouragement!
I've been wondering how you have been since the passing of Jake. I was glad to hear in another post you are currently fostering Winston..sigh when I read his story it contributed a bit to my quilt..so many dogs out there like him. I wish they all find good homes. Best of luck to you with Winston, and I suspect there will be more in your home in the future. |
