Size of my sheepdog

I dont know if this is in the right section so if it isnt im sorry.

My dog is 10 months old and he is quite small for an old english. He is also very skinny but yet he eats his food. I had an old english a few years a go and he was rather tall and butchy but Lenny is very small.

Just wondered when they stop growing and whether i need to worry

Your dog is still a puppy and will have many more months of filling out. They don't finish filling out until about 18months to 2 years old. Our sheepie is 1 year old and she is very tall, but, still has that "puppy" skinny body. I expect she will start getting broader and filling in over the next 6 months to 1 year.

Our other sheepdog was much shorter then my current sheepie.

It is what makes them so beautiful....sheepdogs can vary in size by a lot!
Oh give me the small dogs! I've had big giant shag heads and small shad heads and I much prefer the smaller ones....except to bend over to pet them. As long as your dog is healthy, I wouldn't worry.......what is the weight? Around 60 lbs. Fine. At 10 months you can expect to see the dog fill out for the next......half year or so. More height, probably not.....maybe a little.

I'm so grateful Jack has gone from 105 down to 75 by attrition due to age, poor muscle mass and just plain getting cut back on tucker to more veggies. Lifting him into the car was very painful on my hips.
How small is your guy?
Height at the withers (top of shoulders) and weight?
Zeke isn't a big sheepie, either.
He's about 23-24 inches at the shoulders and about 60 lbs.
And he just turned 5 years old on New Year's Eve.

I prefer that size.
If the dog gets into anything I don't want it to be, I can just lift her/him up and carry him/her away.
He isnt tiny he just isnt as big as i thought he would be. My mum thinks he may have been the runt of the litter but i just think that its where he takes his time lol
They should be square - the body length should equal the body height.
Not tall and spindly or gangly. The taller they are, the more bone mass they should have to balance it out.

Chewie is a shorter OES (and very athletic!). He's 23.5 inches at the withers, and right about 70 pounds now. All muscle and very lean.

With hair:

And doing lure coursing with less hair :
Reading this i feel as though i have a digby sheepdog!

Bloo is 9 months old and 25" from shouldrs to floor!!! Last time he was weighed in december he was 4 stone, which converted is around 25kg or 56pounds. :D

His dad was giant so im not suprised lol :P

If your sheepie is healthy and active i wouldnt worry about its weight, and the height all depends on the dog and its parents/ancestory :)
In bloos litter there was 6 puppies, all similar sizes but one ARTHUR he was tiny!!! He was the last to come out and he could fit in the palm of your one hand at 10 weeks!! But now hes all grown up, he is the same size as his sister!!!
Bloo sounds the right weight for his age and height. :D

Around here, 25" tall would be just on the tall side of average size...certainly not a giant...just nice :D
