Hello,

I like to trim the red, and tarry fur between the pads with OR scissors. I am very slow and careful but use the muzzle for this. Tristin tolerates but pouts for hours after.

If it weren't so cold where I live, I would install a box full of warm water at the door to my house, followed by a foot drying station! I agree with you, the dog park is worth the effort of cleaning, as it gets the zoomies out of the sheepies.
Congratulations on the foot washing. Now you need a drying rack where they'd stand and warm air would blow across the paws.......sounds delightful.

Do you think boots are in order? No dog loves the boots initially, but given a couple of weeks or months, they learn to tolerate them then ignore them (except they associate the boots with play time and get all antsy). I use the Ruffwear boots. Expensive but they do stay on better than the other few I have tried. I wish all the dogs would wear them and I could afford sets for all. Granted, shoving a hairy paw into the socks and boots is a test of patience for all. Times like these I think "hairless would be easier".
i tried when he was a puppy..didnt like them ..now his paws are too big for the xxl at the pet store..i might have to improvise..i still have to check online for ruffwear thanks
It takes weeks for them to become comfortable with them. You let them wear them for a few minutes at a time gradually increasing time. (I have to stifle laughing because he sounds like a Clydesdale walking around the house)

Another good idea is to immediately go do something really fun and distracting when you get them on.
That way your dog associates the boots with fun, and also doesn't have them dwell on them in the beginning.

Chewie wore boots a few times when showing...and getting them on when he was getting off the grooming table and being taken outside to potty and exercise was reward enough!

Then he wore them when dryland carting, and I don't think he even noticed they were on, he was so excited!

I use the Ruffwear boots for muddy paws and snowy paws and Ziggi doesn't mind them at all. In fact she is more active in the boots than out of them. And when we get home the boots come off and the feet are clean. I wouldn't go out in the mud or snow without our boots. :excited:
I like that idea of a dipping station. Between my new Sheepie and my Doodle, that's 8 furry feet I have to clean off, haha. Setting one up tonight!
