I can finally introduce....

Well, for those who saw my topic before and was expecting me to bring home a puppy mid-november called Duck... that all fell through and didn't work out in the end.

However...

I found another breeder who had a boy for me :plead: He came home yesterday!

Introducing George

I'm talking about him all lovey-lovey, but boy we had a difficult first night last night. We were both a bit over-tired, and he is my first dog so as much research and information I had, nothing can prepare you and I mean nothing!

anyway, it's all going a lot nicer today  we're both learning along the way and my mum has been a great help!

He's sitting nicely in his crate now while I have some space  he's either asleep or highly excited, he has no medium setting! I feel like I put him in his crate too much but as long as he's happy, right?

He seems to want to come inside to pee, no number 2s inside yet. We're trying to get him to understand pee goes outside. It's tough but I think he's partly starting to understand

He is a cutie! Mady is our first dog too and I remember thinking that I was ready for it, but it was so tiring. I felt like we could never sit down for five minutes. On the plus side, I did lose weight.

Keep posting pictures of the handsome George, it always brightens my day to see pictures.
WHAT a cutie!!!! George is the perfect name for him!!!!!

If you are lucky enough to be at home with him all day....do what every mother does when a infant is brought home...if they sleep....YOU sleep.... For the next couple of months, you will be on his schedule while slowing getting him on your schedule.

Good luck...and PLEASE.... :plead: more pictures when you have time??????

:ghug:
What a great looking pup!!!

Be patient with regards to the potty training; it will come to him soon enough. Patience and consistency wins this race.

Please keep posting stories and photos.

Oh my gosh, I am in love with that cute face.

That button that goes to medium is never found on puppy's. Trust me, you will be tired for awhile. Puppies get up in the middle of the night to go potty, several times. If I remember correctly it was twice a night for two weeks and then once for a few more weeks before he finally slept through the night.

It will take a while before the :bulb: goes off for the potty outside. Patience is the key.
He's so cute!! I travelled all the way from Kent to Swindon for my boy- it was worth the journey!

Yep, there is no medium setting... well... not for the first 3 years anyway  :sidestep:
Welcome George! What a cutie boy! :hearts:

:aww: :aww: :aww: George is adorable! Welcome!
Welcome to your little George!! :clappurple:

Puppies are a lot of work...that's why they are so cute!!
He pees like a trooper! He slept through the nights at the breeders but he's yet to do so here. Not much time to chat today, I need to go and crate him, and clean up, I know he'll start screaming at me  *sigh* bless him. So I'll just leave you with some pics.

Welcome GEORGE!!! :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:

I'm in love...sigh
Welcome George! What a cutie! Enjoy te puppy breath!
Oh My, He is adorable. When My Rosa came home I had No Sleep for a whole month. But she gradually out grow that phase and now she is my princess.

I was somewhat use to it after my 2 boys infancy, not much sleep for months at a time when you bring home a baby.

George is a cutie. Enjoy that puppy stage. It is gone so soon.

Thanks everyone!!

He loves to bark, he loves to nip and he loves to pull clothes. His nipping can really hurt, and if I yell NO or yelp, he thinks I'm playing and gets worse, and starts barking at me, standing in the corner with my back to him with my arms folded gets him to stop after a few seconds but he doesn't seem to be learning :(

He slept through the night for the first time last night :) But I did get up early for work, I'm trying to get him to sleep later than he does at the moment since I work evenings and like to sleep until about ten, he's at 8am at the moment and won't take "back to bed" for an answer if it's too near that. Normally it's just me being grumpy and tired and trying to get him to go back in his crate while I grab another hour but this morning I was nearly late for work cos he wouldn't stop barking and didn't want him to wake my mum and the neighbours :(

Also (first time dog owner, remember - I have a lot of issues here!) I know I'm supposed to start teaching a few simple commands at the moment, but most of the time when I'm with him he's just SO excited... literally BOUNCING off the walls, and if he calms down and I try to interact with him he escalates so quickly and then he has NO interest in listening to anything I have to say.

Last one - with regards to toilet training, he poos most of the time outside but pees tend to be wherever he is, but he prefers inside - we've got paper down inside to protect the carpet but I'm not sure if that's encouraging him. We put that down after he peed on the carpet a few times. I know I shouldn't expect too much yet but we really can't tell when he needs to go, he just goes, is it a case of being patient and hoping he picks it up? We praise him when he goes outside and he knows if he's shut outside with me, in order to get inside he needs to pee. If I have to be patient that's fine, I just don't want to stop stressing if it's important I try and get him to understand now.

I'M SO TIRED!!!! ;)

Happy new year guys!
I'm so sorry but I can't help but laugh. All of us who have had puppies know what you are going through...its tough, but this too shall pass.

As for the potty training, thats another hard one. Some pups catch on quick and some take a little longer. Patients is the word here. Simon too would poop outside but with pee, just where he happened to stand. We resorted to taking him out every fifteen minutes and finally :bulb: He was four months old. If you have an area that has no carpeting would be MUCH better. The carpet may be holding the smell and that could signal your pup to pee there.

As for training, try to take the pup for a little walk before you try to teach. Get some of that puppy energy walked out and you might have better success.

Good luck and try to sleep when the baby sleeps :) :) :)
What a cutie :hearts: :hearts:

I love his markings!

Thank you. We laid a plastic sheet down in there and put newspaper on it and change and wash everyday, and now he doesn't pee on the small areas of non covered carpet (except by accident if he pees on the edge of the plastic)

We reduced the paper to about half the room and are looking to see if he will go on the plastic, so far so good, only one pee on the plastic, but he was peeing like there was NO TOMORROW yesterday because my best friend came around and smothered him

He's started to be trainable now, I managed to finally teach him a sit yesterday, and starting to teach him a down today.

I'll bet he's clever. He's already worked out that if I walk towards the door that sitting in front of it means I can't get out  penning me in already.

Small things, but yesterday he looked at the door, then at me, and just as I started to stand up he peed. So that's progress anyway

We're having a step back today because it's pouring with rain!!
i can remember when bloo was that small. he is 9 months know and still doing naughty puppy things!! I know exactly what your going through. Stick to a plan and you will be fine. Your new pup is so sweet by the way!! xx
I'm in Love :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:

What a handsome fella George is - love the markings.

Potty training will get there I promise - have lots of newspaper in the kitchen or close by where the crate is stored. Every day sort of keep bringing the newspaper close to the back door until you've reached the garden. For the first couple of days (hopefully the winds wont start again) put some paper by the back door but outside so he knows what to do. Then move the newspaper to the middle of the garden or the particular dog area if you have one. Hope that makes sense. You could always train them on a word - I use wee-wees, if for number twos! - comes in handy when we are at shows and I need the gang to sort of wee on command and of course if we are staying in hotels. Patience, tears and smiles will all form part of it.

I am so sorry to hear that it all fell through with Duck - I was wondering the other day how you were getting on with your puppy as we hadnt seen you around.

As for the crate - everyone will have their personal opinions and at the end of the day you know your own puppy and the needs he has.

Cant wait to see him grow and develop into an even more handsome fella!

We are all here if you want to scream, yell or share funny stories - not forgetting pictures!
he is such a handsome boy..he has the same markings as my moe..they could have been twins..ill have to post moes baby pic..congrats
