A school in Arkansas that has an Airedale as it's mascot.
There's a school district in Alma, Arkansas who are known as the Alma Airedales. Their mascot is an Airedale Terrier. I LOVE this next picture: This (minus the pink ribbon) would have made great nose art on a WWII fighter plane, especially the British Spitfires and/or Hurricanes. I can SO see that on the side of a plane. Also, I've never wanted a tatoo, nor would I ever get one, but if I were, I think I'd want that. Or, if one were doing a graphic on a car similar to a Dodge SuperBee, I could see something like this replacing the bee smoking his tires. Sorry for the non-OES diversion, but I can't get over how COOL the whole thing is! (we need a thumbs up emoticon) |

| It's really bizarre. It seems the town revolves around the Airedale. The snarling Airedale graphic is on the flag hanging in their gym, it's on sweatshirts & t-shirts they sell. Another Airedale graphic is incorporated into the school's crest and flag. I wonder if all the dog owners in town have nothing but Airedales. Weird. I'm thinking if there was ever a 'Daleapalooza, it should be in Alma, Arkansas. |
There must be a story behind it. Go forth and find the story! Then go and steal that statue, that would look great in your front yard...  |

| I read your statements (below) and just wanted to reply to you. I live in Alma Ar. NO, we do not worship the airedale dog. It is just like any other high school macot. We love our school teams, its not about the dog, its about the people. We support our kids, they do excellant in their sports. I assume you never attended a public scool before, or if you did, your high school didn't have a mascot. Alma is a nice quaint little town, and we do not need people like you spouting off at the mouth and assuming we are crazy. By the way, I own a Timberwolf.. not an airedale dog. I have only seen one here before, so no we don't all own airedales, nor do we worship them.. | Er, I don't think he meant to insult your town or call you crazy, he's just excited the mascot is an Airedale because he's a big fan of the breed. It is a nice statue, my highschool didn't have a statue of its mascot (hmmm, I can't even remember what that mascot might have been?) |
| Worship was the wrong word....people are very touchy with it...obviously. Mark LOVES airedales and was excited to see it used as a mascot. It's no different than people wearing Buffalos, or Marlins or Broncos, Cardinals, etc. Love the statue and growling airedale logo! My highschool mascot was The Jolly Green Giant.... |
| winky from Alma, First off, I meant no disrespect to your town, citizens, school, or mascot. I LOVE the fact that the Airedale is your mascot because I love Airedales. I didn't mean to imply that you were crazy in the true meaning of the word, but more like when someone says "I'm crazy about something". As a matter of fact, I liked your school's Facebook link as did many other Airedale owners. We've spoke via FB with several of Alma citizens and they were thrilled in our support of your use of the Airedale as your mascot. Many of them said they would love to see a big Airedale get together in their town. I'm sorry you took offense to my post but no malice was intended. |

| No disrespect is meant to the people of Alma, at all. You have come to a website full of dog-crazy people. Most of us have Sheepies and other breeds too. We get excited to see our breeds in commercials (check out the Duluxe Paint commercials on youtube), print ads, movies and anywhere else we find them. If you are a dog lover, pease join us. |

It's pretty easy and it automagically resizes them for you. Just click on the "My Photos" link near the top of any page, login to that system (check the box to log you in automatically, so you can skip that from then on) and then click the read "Upload File" link near the top right. Be sure to click on "continue" after you files upload so you can place them into the appropriate album. Not everyone calls OES "Sheepies". Some call the "Sheepers"; but nobody DARES call them late for dinner. |
 thank you! I know I am a bitt to late, but I do go to this school, and I very much so appreciate your comment, sir. As many of our teachers have told us, we are one of the only, if not the only, school on Earth with an Airedale as our mascot. (I formally apologize for the asshole above.) We are a proud school, 2x boys b-ball champs, 3x football champs, and 1x volleyball champs. Once again, thank you for the love in our school. Always remember, Go Airedales! |
