Here is an interesting gift book idea for any mystery-lover: The Chet and Bernie series by Cape Cod author Spencer Quinn. I found his first book Dog On It a couple of years ago at our local library and I got hooked. Did not see another volume until this past week: The Dog Who Knew Too Much. Come to find out he has written two other books in between. Thereby Hangs a Tail and To Fetch a Thief. Although Chet is NOT a Sheepie, he is a border collie with very interesting insights. The tale is told from Chet's perspective. As such, he occasionally get sidetracked from his sleuthing by aromas close to a dog's heart and more frequently by the double-entendres of human speech. Even his owner Bernie keeps him guessing at times. I have not finished this latest - it is a bit nerve-wracking for both the heroes - but I definitely intend to check out the 2nd and 3rd entries in this New York time best-selling series. Happy Reading to all and to all a Good Night! Joan |
