Last week Macy's puppies got their 1st bath. They were 8 weeks and 1 day old. They really are very clean puppies! (even before - all the maternal females in the household must be helping out a lot!) The aunties, great aunties all dote on these 3 I missed any pics of Luna - Kristine had her all bathed before I got ready w/ my camera. Then I bathed Hunter, then Kristine bathed Becky. Here's Hunter - with me bathing him and taking photos! Listening to the water coming through the sprayer head - Getting the bath - On the table, under the dryer - Relaxed enough to even chew on a brush while getting dried Almost dry! A slightly out of aim self portrait I took of us when we were done - And here is Becky in her bath - And getting dried - All 3 did great. Having the puppy have a great 1st bath experience is the goal. Making it fun, but also being just firm enough so they know it's not an option to bail out or be naughty - that's the fine balance you want. Know your puppy, and do everything you can to make it a good thing...you'll be grateful for years to come!! |

OMG, so I click on this thread thinking it's the suction cup thread and I see pictures so I think bath has finally happened and then I see bath mat and think "damn! that's just like my mat!" and then I see puppy (Becky for some reason) and think "damn! that looks just like my puppy!" and THEN I see who posted the pics and that it's a different thread And now I know why I normally come home on Fridays, feed the dog and TAKE A NAP! And to whomever asked - it's easier to bathe an 8 week old puppy than a 9 mos old. A LOT easier. They haven't yet learned that they CAN be naughty, so the key is to not let them And they're still small enough that they reallly don't have a lot of choice in the matter, do they? The key is to keep bathing them very regularly till it becomes very matter of course. Speaking of, clean puppy syndrome has worn out. They came in tonight from playing and even their loving female relatives took one look and ran the other way. Oh, Dawn.... Kristine |
Just send becky to me I will bath her and promptly return her She is beautiful............. |
