Is there better doggie technology nowadays to prevent this situation - like a coat - or leggings or something? Or do I have to use the old technology - a warm house and some big towels? We had an inch of snow at the end of October and she LOVED playing in it, but it didn't last long enough to cause too many problems. I know that as soon as it snows, she is going to want to romp and play in the snow and come into the house caked in snow. Any suggestions would be appreciated! |

It depends on the snow not the dog's coat. Certain temp and moisture in the snow makes snow balls. If you regularly get the sticky snow, probably best to invest in a dog snow suit and boots. Or a doggie rain coat and boots. If you just get the dampness, I find a fluffy towel and a good rub works well until they can dry out naturally, finish off with dryer and brushing. Of course I firmly believe in shorter coats eliminating a lot of the trouble. |
