So Behind on Christmas Shopping

:tree:
I'm so behind on Christmas shopping! I have to mail gifts to my family out of state so I'm on a deadline. Just made a good start tonight. I love Christmas shopping, especially when you find a gift that you're excited to give and know the person will truly love.

I thought I would do some internet shopping this year and most things I selected were out of stock. Wasn't expecting that, really put a hitch in my plans.

This is one of my favorite times of the year. I'm hoping to take Copper to have his picture taken with Santa. :santa:

This year we are not exchanging gifts, not with DH or with friends. It does take some of the fun out, but also relieves a lot of stress! To make up for it I've been buying myself gifts! 8)
The large adult part of my family decided a few years ago that we would draw a name and the only gift you could get was a book. Didn't even have to be a new book, could be used too. It has been fun to shop for books and has been much more inexpensive. There are very few non readers in my family, but even the non reader can enjoy a cookbook or a handyman kind of book. One year, I found a book in a used book store that was an instructional manual from many many years ago on how to be a 'good wife'. We had many laughs about that one.
Reminder to self: put up Christmas tree and go shopping. Haven't even started.
I do love this time of year! I am a little behind this year too--but ON IT this week!
I am so behind as well. Still I have booked tomorrow as a days leave and I intend to get it all done then. Good luck to all of us :)

:santa:
i have done some on line. My husbands family buy gift cards and put them in small sacks.
They read a story and when some designated word like "snow" is said you pass the little bag to the right. In the end everyone ends up with a gift card for the same amount that they spent. We have had fun with it some years.
This year we have a new nephew. He was born yesterday morning. He is gorgous!!
She was in labor and in the hospital for 2 days. They finally did a C section. All of a sudden the idea of Christmas shopping has become much more fun. Dale asked how old he has to be before we get him a motorized car. I don't think he is quite ready for that yet. Shopping for little ones is just so much more fun.

:excited: :excited: :excited: :excited:
No problem. You can send me my gift after Christmas if you want.
I'm pretty much done, thanks to the internet. I swear, if I had to fight the crowds at the stores, no one would get anything!! My kids make it easy for me. They put together their online wish lists, then send me the links. Click, buy, done! Of course I still get them something they didn't ask for - no fun if you know EVERYthing you're going to get. It does take some of the fun out of Christmas, though, without little ones around. I swear no store will be spared when the day comes that I have grandkids!

Now all I have to do is get up the ambition to bake . . .
I'm done shopping, but health this year has me way behind. I still have my entire village to set up indoors, and we did get our 11 foot live trees yesterday, and I need to light and decorate it tomorrow.

whew!

can't believe we are only 2 weeks away!

btw, I took Cambridge to get pic with Santa yesterday. He looks like he is smiling in one of them. will have to take a pic of the pic and post it

:tree:
I am sooo behind. I think I have some things bought, my house looks like a bomb went off, all my dogs need grooming, I feel like crap and still have 7 puppies to tend to for 8 weeks :hearts: Plus I have overextended my self in vol stuff the month of december Dec 25th will come if I am ready or not!! The highlight of my day is sheepie cards :excited: Note to self DON'T DO THIS NEXT YEAR :tree:

I hope everyone has a :santa2: Me I am going to bed and it is only 8:47

Congratulations on the new family member! I always wanted to get a kid a motorized car. My cousins had one when we were kids and it was so fun. The pass the gift card game sounds like fun.

What kind of village do you have? We have about 4 pieces of a village of unknown origin, meaning we've had them for a while and got them as gifts. But I saw a village at Kohl's that had some cute buildings.

I love a tall tree. One year we misjudged and bought a live tree and it took 3 people to bring it in. Well it was probably about 13' tall not exaggerating we have 2 story ceilings in the living room. It didn't look so large outside :lmt:

Must be contagious, my house is now looking like that too. I did manage more shopping and most of the contents are strewn in the dining room.
Our village is a mix. I got some great pieces in Williamsburg for 75% off a couple of years ago when they were changing companies (the ones who made their villages). The rest aingot from a garage sale from a man whose wife had died. She had hundreds of houses, so we bought 7 or so, and then I went to Michaels and bought misc. items, trees, snow, etc... now it all sets up perfectly on an antique harvest table I bought... it's about 8 feet long. I love it. I'll have to take a pic and post (on FB) so you can see.

My thoughts too! Someone is getting pretty lippy this close to Christmas! :potstir:
Boy, I know WHO I would like to see TONS of coal dropped on this year! I make the old family recipe of Party Mix for gifting. I made some @ my sisters for them and my nephews when I was there @ Thanksgiving. The rest I give to close friends. :hearts: The only REAL shopping I do is for the dogs. And I go overboard on them. This year will be tough since my Gracie is no longer with me but Abbey and Oliver enjoy their haul. It's funny, They seem to understand when the stockings come out. They get filled in the AM when they go out. The dogs power potty and run like th dickens to the stockings. They actually know who's stocking is who's. :santa:
My dogs watch their stockings too (although non are hung at this point  ) I think we all should deposit a pile of coal outside every citi bank around the country with a note from santa telling them how bad they are :sidestep:
No Cindy, that's funny. Also putting poop in bags and lighting them on fire :santa: :santa: :santa:
I have barely started shopping.... :( :(

I have the lists from the kids (we all make one, helps to get what people actually want!)...just need to do the shopping.
Made a lot of progress with the shopping today--BUT it is a mad house out there! Hate the traffic!
I went to the post office yesterday The line was all the way out the front door!!! I ordered a few things on line with the promise of before christmas delivery and looked at what I had bought and now I think a few of the gifts are not right :cow: ye gads all this and 7 sweet puppies (maybe I will just give puppies as presents :sidestep: )
