I got the green light on places to take Pru out to meet people. The vet stressed "get her out" "as much as possible". She was very thorough of places she approved of and places she didn't. She said no to the local doggy park still...said it wasn't safe just yet. We live in a beach resort town and the places she suggested are really more people places and the people that have dogs there...as she put it..."take care of their animals". So...off we go tomorrow... The funniest thing was our very brief visit to PetSmart to pick up her food. One of the employees (and I think a trainer) fell in love with Pru and before I knew it..I got $20 off our training ..and he carried the big 'ol food bag to the car. I was scared he may follow us home at one point... ..jk..he was very nice and appropriate. He is from Britain and grew up with OES and had not seen an OES puppy in a long time. He commented over and over how well behaved she was and friendly. He asked if she had already been to Puppy Kindergarten and was surprised when I said no. So..I had my first taste of showing off my sweet Pru and it was a blast!! I was such a proud mommy and loved talking about her and bragging on her I am hoping she gets to go meet her future OES buddy Bentley tomorrow. I know he is a good doggie for her to be around and she can be in a safe public place. The funniest part of the whole day....she is 26.5lbs at 12 weeks old!!! Okay...so I know that may not be a big deal to you guys...but to actually really grasp how fast they grow cracked me up. I don't know why but I couldn't quit laughing. She was 16lbs when we got her on Nov. 18th. I told the vet tech. .."she's gotten bigger...I bet she's about 20lbs by now" and then...26.5 pops up on the scale...way too funny!! And...the other thing I "knew" but didn't really grasp or "know"....OMG...I am soooo tired!!!! lol I finally figured it out...it's just like a newborn but I didn't get maternity leave!! We are finally getting into a groove, or some semblance of one, so I don't want to sleep standing up at work anymore. I hope I have energy and can get some good pics this weekend! |

But...ahem....where's the picture? |
I know... ...I completely forgot my camera..ugghhh I was on a conference call with my job for the ride home to get her...organize the car with proper equipment for a comfortable ride ...stayed on the call the whole time I loaded her in (on mute, of course )...and then all the way to the vet. Once there...all proud of myself for multitasking , she poops and I realize I left the baggies to clean up (had to run in and ask the staff at the vet..who I had not met yet...great 1st impression... ) THEN...yep...she was soooo cute meeting everyone there and I then realized I forgot my camera Imagine how mad I was at myself when I got home and only then remembered...oh yea...I could've used my phone!!!! May have to go back to recreate the scene on Monday... |
I'd still be leary of taking your pup out. It just takes one sniff of an area where a dog with parvo was. We had a friends OES contract it at 12 weeks. He survived but is much smaller that he would likely have been. The vet bills were in the thousands too. Just don't let him sniff anywhere......... Can't wait to see pictures!! |
She is going to get so much attention when you go out-such a pretty girl! |
"First times" are so much fun! |
bonnaroofairy wrote: She just wagged her cute round butt madly during her whole visit. Pru was, of course, the hit of the vet clinic and made many friends. They were sooo impressed with her temperment and I was too...she did awesome . What a great beginning with your sweet new sheepie! |
What a great day. They really grow so fast. She will get to have lots of outings when you remember to tske the camera. |
