Petition Opposing Vet Docking/Cropping Ban

They are looking to have 500 names on it to send to the Ontario Veterinarian College (OVC) by Dec-30-2011. Essentially the petition is asking the OVC to continue to allow breeders and veterinarians the choice to dock/crop/dew claw removal or not. You may not agree with docking and or cropping but I believe most of us simply want to be able to make the right choice for our dogs. Respectfully submit that veterinarians as health service providers need the freedom from their national and provincial organizations to provide the care requested by their clients, the dog owners. To arbitrarily revoke these services will lead many to either unapproved sources or attempt to dock on their own subjecting dogs to extreme risks that would otherwise be precluded by appropriate professional veterinary care. Other petition signers may want to add something similar, remember to be courteous, ask that the choice to dock/crop/remove de-claws remain the sole purview of the dog parent/owner and stress that proper health care provisions for our dogs by qualified professionals is the most important aspect here. | Sorry did not sign. I do agree in part & don't in other areas. If the dog needs it to improve its life & I would say yes but no with the tails. Sorry & hope all goes well with this |
