Normally, I like to drop a personal line to you if I've met you to say how great it was to finally meet you and I look forward to seeing you again at the next Sheepiepalooza or OESCA Nationals. While this place is wonderful to get to know people there is something about spending time with you guys in person and enhances our relationship here. I doubt that Dawn and I would have connected near as much if it wasn't for that first Sheepiepalooza. Now we text and periodically talk on the phone in addition to hear. Unfortunately, I fractured my ankle two weekends ago when a dog at a dog park plowed into me from behind, buckling my knees and as my weight forward and to the right my ankle snapped. So I am laid up for now and have to wear a boot for six to eight weeks. I am still not allowed to put weight on it. The pain is getting better and I am actually getting close to sleeping through the night. It takes all my energy to hobble to the bathroom, plus working all day with my foot propped up at my desk, therefore I just didn't have the energy to add my extra notes to the cards. So here goes a big general message to all of you - Ron, thanks so much for the gift of this forum..... the gift that keeps on giving. Chris, thank you for this wonderful card exchange. It is always a highlight of my season and no matter how busy I am or incapacitated I try not to miss it. It wouldn't be possible without all of your efforts. And to all you that I saw at Sheepiepalooza this year - the hike was so much fun I can't wait to do it again, eating out with our well behaved, totally exhausted Sheepdogs, the treat of practicing agility in person with my way-to-far-away friends and raising money for rescue with some friendly competition at the oral auction. I am so glad I got to meet some of you and re-connect with others. And to those of you who have stopped to visit on your way through St. Louis in the last couple of years. Please always look us up. Val and I really do enjoy those visits even when we can't take the dogs. Though that is the cherry on top. My cards went in the mail yesterday and continue our tradition of Harry's tour of St. Louis during the holidays. Here are our cards of Christmas past. |

I forgot to mention that my accident occurred on the day we took Harry's photo for the card exchange otherwise I don't know what we would have done. We had a really fun morning with him that day until the "incident". |
How awful! We now have a few Great Dane enormous puppies at our dog park, cute and sweet but oh so clumsy and I am always afraid of being taken down by one of them When Mady and her Irish Setter friend Kee-va run, even at full speed, they can turn on a dime and they never hit anyone, so we have learned to just stand still for them. But the Dane puppies (I use the word puppy lightly) just don't seem to notice people and have taken a few folks out. It is a bit scary really. I hope that your ankle heals up completely and quickly. As for meeting you at Sheepiepalooza, it was a delight. The hike was wonderful, even if I did almost have a stroke trying to keep up with you! The agility practice outside the hotel was a highlight for me. It inspired us to give agility a try and we are looking forward to showing you what Mady can do! As for Mr. Harry, well, you know I am completely smitten with him and I can't wait to get the card in the mailbox! |
Well, I was wondering Judi, when you would share your casualty here! I'm glad to hear its LITTLE bit better. I hope the healing is good, as it's sure not going to be swift. And the dane pups - I have a friend who has danes - shows, obedience/rally and WP - and her youngest one took out her mom when he was a puppy. She ended up in a w/c with multiple fractures on one leg and ankle. Thankfully her mom just loves the dogs, and she and Ramone are still buddies! |
great pics! maybe someday we will travel with Cambridge! |
I wonder how much Harry offered that dog to take you out You know Harry, if you needed a break from agility, there are easier and less painful ways to get your point across. Seriously, sorry for your injury and I hope you feel better really soon. |
Poor Harry is beside himself with boredom and not being able to snuggle with his mommy on the couch and bed. He is being very good about moving out of my way. Thank goodness for obedience training!!! He is minding me very well. |
I'm so sorry to hear about your injury, wow. I hope you're feeling better soon! |
I'm sorry to hear about your ankle I used to write something on all of them, then it was to those I was close to ...but now my excuse is I gave the job to the kids and daddy. So they have something to do AWAY from the tv, and I get a breather. I look forward to seeing Harry. |
Hope you HEAL very soon! We love your Harry cards either way! He is such a handsome boy. I hope one day to get to meet him |
gosh so sorry i loved your past cards.. 4 yrs ago i broke my foot the day after thanksgiving what a pain during the holidays hang in there |
I'm not on the card list but I just wanted to pop in and say that I'm SO sorry about your ankle. Hoping you'll heal well and sooner than expected. PS- Harry's beautiful! |
OUCH! What a lovely time to be laid up......like any time is great! Glad the pain is subsiding and in a while you'll be able to walk on it again.......carefully. Imagine your boy is BORED!! Maybe, maybe when you are more mobil you can arrange for the instructor to run him through his paces or somebody...just to keep him exercised and mind engaged. Anything you can do with him now, teach him to juggle, make dinner, fold the laundry? No, I've never been able to teach mine that either, drat. Love the pictures.......I remember them but love seeing your handsome model poise at all those important StL spots. s. |
I hope your ankle heals quickly! Teddy and I had a great time with you and everyone else at Sheepiepalzooa and can't wait for next year! Looking forward to seeing Harry's Christmas card! Cindy |
Oh, Judi - I feel your pain! I broke my right fibula (I think that's the right name - the small bone in your calf) a week before Thanksgiving last year. Had to have surgery for a plate and screws to keep it together, so my whole holiday season was shot. Had to pawn T'giving day dinner off on my sister at the last minute, the kids put up and decorated my tree and house (which I LOVE to do), and Christmas dinner was on a bit of a smaller scale because I was just starting to hobble around. WORST holiday season of my life, so I can sympathize! I hope your ankle starts feeling better soon! Boredom is your worst enemy right now, but try to avoid the temptation to do more than you should. Easier said than done, I know, but I have to tell you to try (even though I don't always listen to my own advice ). And no thanks needed for doing the list. It's a labor of love, really! |
Ouch! And welcome to the ortho boot club! Hope you heal soon and will be running with the big dogs again soon! Watch that ice and snow, too! Nita & Nelson |

Judy, I know what its like being taken down at the dog park. My worst injury was bruised ribs. I hope everything heals fast and clean and watch your behind, those darn dogs will bowl you over and never even slow down(learned that from Gar). Don't worry about adding anything personal, we know you love us |
Judi Sorry you had this happen!!Your cards are always wonderful and creative Mine were not so this first year of doing it. Harry is always so cute. I hope your recovery is fast. Poor you cindy |
Hey Judy, I'm not on the card list but I wanted to tell you to get well soon! I'm sorry to hear of your injury what a bummer! At least you have precious Harry for a nursemate. Couldn't get better than that! |
Oh NO!!!!!! I'm so sorry to hear this! I hope you feel better soon- I had to wear that dumb boot for a stress fracture earlier this year- I'm sure your break is so much more painful!! Take care of yourself! |
