Need help with clippers!

Hi :D

It's been a while since I've posted, been so busy with my horse and exams and stuff. :(

Well I haven't been doing my best when it comes to grooming Aska. And my poor baby has gotten so matted and there is so much snow, that I think it's better for her and I to just shave her. So I decided to do it myself! :D
Is it ok to use horse clippers? I've found some cheap horse clippers and I was wondering if it is the same as dog clippers.
So it would be great if you could tell me your opinion :D

Thank you :D

What brand/model clippers are they? Some work fine on both buy I'd be suspicious of anything "cheap" where clippers are concerned. Many professional clippers are used both for dogs and livestock, just be sure there's enough power to do the job. Most of the blades are the same.
I asked (I'm buying them of a horse forum) and she said that they were no brand. Just from the local tack store. I think I just going to buy some good clippers that last long and will do the job 100%

So my new question is :
What clippers do you recommend :D ?
They have to work in Europe(220W)
You would help me ALOT by just recommending any!

Thanks :D

Update:

What I've found so far are these
http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.j ... n=Grooming

They have great reviews.
But it doesn't say if they work in Europe nor if they ship worldwide.
I'm new to this so I have a question.. Do I need to buy blades separately ? :D

Thank you!
Wahl clippers are made in Germany so possibly they are more accessible in Europe than buying in the US? I have the KM2 model and they're very powerful but relatively inexpensive. Use it to shave down matted rescue dogs all the time and they're great. Most new clippers do come with a #10 blade which is very short but great for getting under mats. You may want to buy a couple of extras that are longer, possibly a #4, #5 or #7. The higher the blade number, the shorter it will cut.

I prefer Wahl and Andis clippers for their power over Oster but am not familiar with the Osters you are referring to. Most likely, Petedge won't have any clippers with European voltage and using a power adapter is sometimes hard on the appliance. It wouldn't hurt to ask them, though.

What country you typically purchase appliances from? You're kind of isolated up there, aren't you?
YES we are kond of isolated! And I hate it!
Everything is just so expensive here so I don't really want to buy clippers here. But I bought my stand dryer here, that's the only electronic dog stuff I have.

I hadn't thought of just sanding them a message asking them for opinion :D Thanks for that :D

I'm so going to move to USA when I'm old enough!

Thanks for your replie :D
Check eBay UK. There's a couple Laube Mini Micro clippers that on there. They're top of the line professional clippers. Probably some Andis and Wahl KM2's as well. Be careful not to buy something not made specifically for dog grooming.

Any UK groomers here that can help??
Thanks Nita :-D
