Super duper clingy velcro sheepie sounds normal to me. I can't sit down without my sheepie trying to sit in my lap. This is completely normal. Sheepies are velcro dogs. Well more like super glue dogs (They are harder to remove). Was she shaved recently? It maybe cooler/warmer behind the chair or something or maybe the chair is her new safe spot. |
To me that's normal. Clingy until I stop petting her than off to a corner to snuggle down and lean against a wall or piece of furniture. But, think about all the changes that have happened recently. As mentioned above Chowder changes a bit after a shave, also after daylight savings time because we don't feed her when she's hungry, or sometimes of we come home really late, etc. One big change after we used flea and tick medication on her; it was so dramatic we had to wash it off. So just be careful it is not something serious. |
They are velcro dogs, but you need to set her down on a nice mat, off the cold floor, instead of on you....unless you like being smothered. She is testing you........what can I get away with. Direction down to the mat (check for drafts down there) and some good-girl pets should do it....eventually. As for behind the chair, they like closed in areas......like a cave. Perfectly normal. I usually have them under my work tables......when there are no boxes there. |
Thank you for all the responses. She has never his behind anything before so I thought that was so odd. She has never been shaved so that can't be it. Basically nothing has changed or nothing I can think of that is. lol she does snuggle of course but nothing like the past few days. |
We have a particular corner in our gathering room between the two couches and table that both Violet and China like to sleep in during the day. I have no idea why, but if you don't know that is where they are, you could be looking for them and not see them. Recently I've found Violet laying in the commode room of the bathroom, also against the tub. She also has a corner in my office between two bookcases that she snuggles into...she's a big sheepie so suprises me where she can fit herself. I've even seen her tuck herself in a corner of the diningroom. I just shrug my sholders. |
Mady just turned two and we have also noticed over the past couple of months that she is more snuggly than ever. She also likes her little hidey holes, I think that they make her feel cozy! |
This may not be it for you, but ... our shepherd mix behaved this way once before and I couldn't figure out for the life of me what it was. Turns out, our basement (or garage?) smoke detector was giving off it's warning beep for the dying battery. We couldn't hear it but she could. She would hide and act really weird. Once we discovered it and changed the battery, all was back to normal. It took us about 2 or 3 days. It's amazing how things can effect our furry loved ones. Jacqui |
Wow this is interesting. Gigi has started napping behind a chair in a room we never use. She also has become more and more snuggly. She is almost 3. I was worried at first. |
