Hide and Seek

Cambridge LOVES to play Hide and Seek. If he's not paying attention and I want him to come, I let him see me, then duck or hide, and voila! here he comes.

when playing outside with me, he finds it very fun when I hide behind our holly bushes. :D

I've never had a dog who played Hide and Seek before,

is this a much loved sheepie game and I was just not aware?

:excited:

Much loved game I played with all my dogs since I was a child.
They always seek, I always hide :D but so much fun in everyway.
I think it helps with paying attention, and recall~
Charm and I have been playing hide and seek for some time. Its easier that her stay is so much better. I use a quiet chirpy voice to call her when I'm hidden. She knows that tone, and if I initiate a game when she isn't looking, she immediately knows by my voice that the game is on!!! :excited: She's such a good puppy!! :hearts:
Millie has also always loved to play hide and seek :D The only problem is when she does find me, she gets sooooo excited that she barks repeatedly and very loudly right in me face!!! I really need to start hiding with treats, so I can shove one in her mouth before she goes buzurk.
My first sheepie BRANDON was the hide and seek king. We used to play in my two bedroom townhouse apartment. He would wait patiently until I called him and then find me. He'd do it for hours. (I have never had a sheepie that patient since!)

When my I moved back to Winnipeg my hubby worked in the computer dept of a large manufacturing plant. There were offices and cubicles and a cafeteria with full kitchen, etc. It was huge! We'd go in with him after hours while he did some catch up work, and BRANDON and I would play in this facility the size of a small shopping mall. (The factory was closed off so he couldn't get to any equipment or anything potentially dangerous.)

Sometimes he'd sit and wait for five minutes while I ran to the other side of this huge facility and hid under a desk. The second I yelled his name he'd take off and come running.

My hubby spent more time laughing at him than working, but it was always a great time. And he loved running toward the general area of my voice, stopping, and then starting a pretty impressive search grid to look for me. He'd go into each cubicle in order, check under all the desks, etc. He'd stop and listen for me, and if I made so much as a sound he'd zero in pretty fast. And then the full on tail wagging and face licking would ensue!

I sure miss BRANDON.
such sweetness and fun!
panda LOVED hide and seek...whether in the house or on our walks...she was so good that leash was usually not used...if she ran slightly ahead to sniff something, me, brian or both would hide behind palm trees...she would race back and find us...usually ending with a jump and snip to our rears.....
:-). we play 99% off leash. really need to learn the on leash thing. C grabs the leash and tries to walk himself.
Sam LOVES hide and seek! Except, we normally play with toys and not people! I wonder how him and Nola would react to me hiding! :lmt:
hmmmm. you try it with people and I'll try it with toys!
Our version is "run for the door".

After we get home (or if out doing something in the yard), I will at some point sneak to the door. I am trying to beat Chewie there. He plays around, but when he sees me going that way, he tries to beat me!
Because I made it this crazy game, we never have coming in the house issues

His absolute favorite though, is if he's a ways away (farm, big space!) and I get to the door first, and I open it wide, and then he runs flat out fast and just barrels through into the house at full speed! Hopefully the other dogs see it coming....

We have a flat approach - no steps at all - so he is going bullet fast!
I do get some adrenalin rush out of it, as I hate to see what would happen if I mis-grab the door handle or something...most times it is REALLY close timing! It would be a big smash crash.... 8O :(
