I have heard the same thing from The Board of the OESCA. It is being noticed. I am hoping that we are able to steer some of the shaggy dog buyers away from the puppy mills and getting them in touch with the good and caring breeders. This is wonderful! Makes me very happy!! THANK YOU! |

And just so you know, I feel so many are refering to you and OESCA because of the awsome job you guys do. So thank you and tell everyone we all said hello.

I will always refer people to you guys directly too as I have a great pup from one of your breeders. Please tell OESCA to please keep after the current breeder pool to stay in line with their ethics guideline so maybe someday the OES will never be bought from a puppy mill again. |
I just lost my 14 year OES 2 weeks ago. I am searching for a good breeder as my Fancy girl was a rescue. Please help. |

I'm very sorry for your loss. You can contact Tarja for a breeder referal by clicking on the PM button on the bottom of her post (the first one in this thread) or via e-mail by clicking the e-mail button on the bottom of that post. She will gladly help you find a breeder! Good luck! |

got a name ??? boy or girl Please let us know Thanks OES Mommy, I don't know if you were asking me or Tarja about the Avatar but that's our new boy, Charlie. Thanks to Tarja, we got him from a breeder in MD. He's 12 weeks old and is a VERY good pup! Actually, Tarja recommended someone close to us but they didn't have a litter and recommended someone else who did. We got him from Marti Harrison (Reflections Kennel). Charlie's parents are To-Jo's Sunbeam over Misty Mountain (Beamer) and Reata's E-Memories (Emmie). I just love these long names, they're so cool! Charlie's name is Reflection's Capital Gain. I'm so proud of him (as if you can't tell)! Tarja, I noticed you live in Papillion. I come to Offutt every now and then for work. Perhaps I could meet you and your dogs sometime! Cheers, Rick & Charlie |
Wow Rick, that is a really gorgeous pup! I just love Beamer babies! He's a stunning dog |

I have viewed the post regarding Myself (Jackie Drumm). I am here to clairify some things I have viewed. First I have been raising OES puppies for 25 years. It is the only breed I have ever raised. My adult dogs are OFA certified. Their eyes have been certified as well. A number of years ago, a lady bought two puppies from me. I am sorry she was not happy with the choice she made. That started a whole lot of negative posts from people that know nothing about me or my puppies. The American Kennel Club came to my home and view my dogs, their papers, my breeder records and my property. They gave me a great review. I have a copy of that if anyone is interested. I also have copies my dogs OFA certificates just let me know if you are interested I seeing them. I love what I do and I take pride in raising healthly puppies and finding them great homes. My website is southernsheepies.com. The documents can be viewed there as well. |
I'd be happy to post the 7 years of vet records I have from the two puppies I got from you documenting their health issues, starting with the severe urinary tract infections they came home with (citing crystals in their urine resulting in permanent incontinence in one of the dogs),multiple eye infections, repeat ear infections and severe aggression. At six months old my vet gave me two options- euthanizing them, because of the bad breeding and aggression issues, or seeking help from a local aggression specific trainer. We did the latter. We love our girls, but things would have been far less expensive and far less emotionally traumatic if they'd been bred responsibly, using breeding stock that had a history of good temperament and over-all good health. I also work with the Old English Sheepdog Rescue Network of the South East- we get many of Jackie's dogs in from people, with their AKC papers naming her as breeder, with similar aggression issues. I'd love to see OFA and other health documents- I know the stud and bitches of our girls never had them. Jackie kept promising to show me copies, but once we got our pups home, she never replied to any of my emails. 7 years ago, when I got our two puppies, Jackie Drumm was having 4 litters a year off of just 2 breeding bitches. This isn't a responsible breeding practice. I made a lot of mistakes as a first time dog buyer. A responsible breeder would never have sold me 2 female litter mates. Jackie was glad to have the money, and didn't care a damn about the dogs. When I got our dogs-- and don't get me wrong, I love them to pieces--- I had no idea the years of difficulty we were looking at. If we hand't had the money, the time, and the constant willingness to work through behavioral issues and health issues, we could have never kept out 2 dogs that we got from Jackie. If you can stand it, there are 11 pages of a thread I started about our journey through Aggression specific training here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=19517 You won't think highly of me when you are done reading this. Lots of people stopped being friendly with me because of the difficult choices we had to make. But I did them to be able to keep my dogs and control them...and all because I was stupid enough to get puppies from a breeder that was pumping out puppies thinking only of financial gain, and not about the well being of the dogs or the affects her irresponsible breeding would have on the lives of the people getting her pups. This is my experience getting a pair of puppies from Jackie Drumm. Other people may have had better experiences. This is merely my personal accounting of the situation, and doesn't represent the opinion of OES.org or the Old English Sheepdog Rescue Network of the South East, or anyone that owns, manages or moderates OES.org or the Old English Sheepdog Rescue Network of the South East. |

Lots of people stopped being friendly with me because of the difficult choices we had to make. Allison, I will pipe in here that I did read that thread (or most of it) before. I came away thinking you are an awesome, patient, dedicated, loving momma to these 2 girls. Most likely in anyone else's hands they would have ended up euthanized in a kill shelter or with severely curtailed and sad lives after showing aggression to dogs or people. Instead they are in an extremely loving family, with incredibly interesting and active lives, travelling around North America and sheep herding and being loved by countless people around the US and Canada, and with their issues managed as best as possible. These two girls have the best lives they could possibly have, all due to you and your fierce love and tenacious desire to learn and always do what's best for them, regardless of any naysayers out there (and you know how much I deeply respect that in people!). |
