He just got his shots a couple of weeks ago, I was worried this would happen if he started to go outside. Thanks Lisa Frankie and Mattie |

Did the bleeding stop? Poor Buzzy. |
Lisa, I don't know if this is right but here's what we do for Attila anytime he comes home with battle wounds and it's fairly often as he's pretty aggressive and very territorial: we clean up the wound the best we can with soap and water, (cats love this - they sit perfectly still for it) and then apply Neosporin to the wound and keep him inside for a couple days afterwards. We usually clean and reapply the meds daily too. This works well if the bleeding isn't fast or gushing. If it is, head to the vet ASAP. The Neo will actually slow down the bleeding to nothing, just like on my own wounds from all my garage mishaps; which also happen with regularity. We've done this a dozen time for him alone and he has no real scars so I'm betting it's not a bad thing. Keep in mind we have eight cats now and have had four or five others since we've been married. Cat fights are SOOOOOOO common around our house. We never even get worked up about it. We go into full triage mode anymore - very organized and fluid in what we do as a team, Jen and I. Vance |
His left eye has an open cut over it but it doesn't seem to be bleeding anymore. I put some neosporin on it. Above his other eye he's missing some hair and has a small cut. His eye is oozing, but it doesn't seem to be scratched. He has just started to want to go outside. We saw no harm in it since he doesn't leave the deck area, and he has all of his claws. He's just laying around now and he seems sad. Thanks Vance for the suggestions. He is our first cat. We inherited him a couple of years ago. I'm sure he'll be ok by tomorrow. We too learned the hard way that cats will NOT stay on a deck. Our white Persian whom we now call White Lightening isn't content on the deck. She's started to venture further every chance she gets. We do everything we can to prevent her from even going outside at all. Just keep the wound clean and fresh Neo on it. Vance |
Over the years we've learned (thank you Dr. Vet) to not think stitches, etc, just clean up the wound and keep it clean (easier with a cat) Nature does a good job of cleaning things up. If you notice pus, then yeah, might be time to consult a vet, but even then more than often it healed if we kept the wound clean and moist, not letting crusts form. You shouldn't need the neosporin any more, it might slow the healing. Yeah, cat's ego is bruised. Getting one's tail whipped is no fun, no matter the species. |
Hi i have two cats, who are always in the wars. I would bathe it with some cotton wool, in warm salt water. Should heal. Was there a nail or anything stuck in the cut?? Hope it gets better soon |
I've always used salt water. Keep a watch on his eye though it might have a scratch on it. |
It happened to our cat. Large Cat kicks small cat butt. After a few times I let out dog out in the garden & dog beats up big cat & little cat has no problem so far. |
