My dog sprained her leg too

This last Friday my Edward had a park session with his dad, no running- just a nice walk around the park- meeting new people and other dogs. He started limping very badly in the pm :( We checked his paws, but found no issues. In the AM we took him to his vet who also said it was a sprain- She gave him some anti-inflammatory pills and a few days later he was back to normal. But at just 6 months I was very surprised. Any suggestions on how much activity is too much for a puppy??
