After having Pooh around for 12 years I was used to his herding instinct or so I thought! We adopted Angus in August and his herding instinct is 10 times more than Pooh's. Around smaller children Pooh didn't do too much of the herding. He was more of a foot nipper, but never nipped, just more noise and it was more with adults than children. With children, he would just walk up to them and give them a lick on the face and that's it. Angus is the complete opposite! He is constantly herding the younger grandchildren. Is there something I can do to tone this down a bit? I want him to like being around the younger kids, but not the constant herding! Help!!!!! |

How old is he? If he is a puppy, they tend to nip ankles and feet and probably everything else! I wouldn't encourage the nipping. Maybe look for an obedience class to work off some of that energy. |
He was a year old in May. He doesn't nip....just herds the little ones. Always in front to steer them somewhere else. He never hurts them. He has a very strong herding instinct. I know he's still young. Is there anything I can do to lessen this? After having Pooh around for 12 years, I never realized how different the herding instinct can be within the breed. |
