When will he start cleaning himself? Or will he? |
|
hahaha...cleaning themselves? Send me yours if he starts, so he can train Yuki!! I shampoo and use conditioner whenever I think they're dirty. Can be once every few months (or more) ....or every week. Yuki has gotten stinkier w/age it seems. We've been given her a bath every week now. Not dry at all either. |
OMG, we give baths all of the time! Dahlia loves loves loves to get dirty. If there is a muddy puddle, she is in it. She gets a full bath about once a week and sort of paw/leg/back-side washing every few days.... It is dependant on whether she has been running around at the dog park. She is always stinky after a dog park romp! She is a little stinker! But, we love her! |
Yay! I'm going to wash away then! I had read some things about skin problems developing after too much washing, so I will disregard that and lather up! I have been washing his paws every other day. He doesn't really understand yet that you shouldnt step in... Stuff. |
They CAN get skin problems if you bathe them too much or don't wash the shampoo out all the way ...but I've always used conditioner and never had any problems with that. Some dogs can be more sensitive I'm sure. |
I usually bathe once a week- Tonks and Luna love filth, and I can't abide a stinky dog. As small puppies, I often had to bathe them more often, due to puppy filth- it seemed they were always in mud, or poop, or something. I bought a shampoo that was made for frequent washing, so it was geared towards not drying out their skin. And making sure you get ALL the shampoo out is key too. I use a shampoo, a conditioner, and I follow it with a shampoo neutralizer-- partially because I'm paranoid I'll miss some in the rinse, and partially because I think I'm addicted to buying grooming stuff. I like the Chris Christensen line; I use the "Day-to-Day" shampoo and conditioner, and the "After-bath" shampoo neutralizer. |
Bella gets a full bath once a month and a leg/paw wash after sheep herding on Sundays. The "eau de sheep poop" is not really pleasant or is the grass between her toes. |
We show Georgi & you are not ment to wash the dark half. So we wash her white bits but I would like to give her a fully going over. We use diff types of cond & shampoo. One for the white parts & for the dark. We also brought 5 liters of flea shampoo as well. We brought a good bath for her & a very large hair dryer. I found this on the internet as well http://www.5min.com/Video/How-to-Bath-- ... -197511340 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zvRlhm2bps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efkdX-Ro ... re=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FF1r4XR1 ... re=related We brought these products as well & they are good but cost a bit to get them over to the uk |
Ok: I'm a "dirty momma" here . . . Bingley gets bathed about once a year . . . but he's happy and healthy with a lot of line grooming and spot cleaning!!! |
My 3 girls get weekly baths... |
I only bath bloo when he is stinky or has jumped in lakes or canals About once twice a month. it is a very wet and long process, as he hates the shower and jug. I nrmally end up going in with him to hold him still while mom washes him!!! Weird bcause he loves water except when its being poured over him??? :/ Next week the man in the van is coming to wash dry and groom bloo, will be funny to watch He needs a good grroom and washh !! If nash lets you wash then go ahead, pity bloo cant be easier lol |
You are so brave! Takes me violet wrote: My 3 girls get weekly baths... Wow your brave, takes me a few weeks to pluck up the courage! |
Oscar gets a weekly bath as well, and face, paws and "undercarriage" get washed 2 - 3 times per week. Yes, we pretty much live in the tub. Oscar would love nothing more than to be a "once a year" bath boy. Laurie and Oscar |

Laur&Rumi wrote: I had read some things about skin problems developing after too much washing, so I will disregard that and lather up! Proper washing and drying is the key not to have skin problems If your pup has a thick fur, you should always blow-dry it.. If the "undercoat" (I don't know the real word for it in english ) is wet for a long time it can develop hot spots or some rash. But I wash Tedi's paws and tummy nearly every time we come inside especially now in the fall because it's so muddy and dirty outside! Tedi is in full coat so I wash the whole dog abput once a month, white parts almost every week. When he was a little puppy I washed the whole dog once or twice a week so he got used to washing and blow-drying. Washing is fun! And as they say, anyone who doesn't know what soap tastes like, has never washed an oes |
This topic couldn't be more timely! Myself and Better Half were having this conversation just last night! Harriet gets a weekly bath and we were debating whether or not we were over doing it. But...let's be honest...our girl is a dirt bag and gets into everything. We've been using a lavender based shampoo and have been frequenting the local doggy U-Wash, which has a proper grooming tub and a high velocity drier, which makes the process so much simpler than using the bathtub and my hairdryer! |
