trash cans & toilet paper

We can't put anything in the bathroom trash cans or paper on the rolls. Watson drags anything out of the cans and chews on the paper. Any advice on how to break him of this habit?

Welcome to the club!

Woof used to do precisely the same thing! He's pretty much over the "don't I look so cute dragging toilet paper away from Dad" thing - we simply put it out of his reach and/or distacted him with one of his own toys if he did manage to get hold of it

As for the bin (trash) problem - we've simply switched from a flip top bin to one that he can't get into..

Best of luck!

PS - a funny story on this (I swear it's true). I once or twice found toilet paper on the floor covering an accident when Woof was a younger pup! I am of the firm belief he had seen me clearing his mess and was attempting to do the same.....
You might try to not give him free range. Make sure you and him are not more than 3 feet apart some day. The minute he makes for the bathroom, toilet paper, or trash; say,"NO!" Then lead him off to safer ground.
We did this constantly the first year or two. Kept her in her kennel whenever we were not around. Now I trust her completely. She doesn't even counter surf when we are not there. Well, not that we would know for sure. We leave her in her kennel with lots of toys. Walk her at night and in the morning. Play fetch and do yard work with her. Right now she's downstairs waiting for a walk, but it is raining. Point is, make sure they have something they are suppose to do. They need something to relieve tension and relax. Don't we all!

Sheepies are stubborn, but not stupid. If you head 'em off before they do something, they will usually comply easier than if it becomes a power struggle.
I agree with the idea of the secure top garbage, it may be a little inconvient for yo but it actually could save your sheepie's life. Recently my dog Barnaby had to have surgery to remove a blockage from his intestines, it wasn't anything from the bathroom but a piece of meet wrapping. But while we were at the hospital we heard the most common blockages we caused by eating bathroom trash especially feminine products so for your dogs safety and both your states of mind, keep the bathroom out of his reach all together if thats what it takes.

Mikeg,

Thanks for making me chuckle regarding the story of Woof! :D
