Hello new Mommy and welcome to the forum! Congratulations on your new pup! If he went to the Vet, I assume the Vet did a thorough check of him. Did you mention you thought he was sleeping and panting alot? How old is he? Just getting him on Saturday means he is adjusting to his new home and family. Probably missing his siblings and Mommy. If he is young, like 8 weeks or so, he will sleep alot. Pups are like infants...they play hard a few minutes, then sleep most of the time! How is his poop? You mention he drinks alot of water...You should mention that to the Vet...Also sounds like he just had some shots. Watch for an allergic reaction...swelling of the face, vomitting...But all in all, I find my dogs were sore and a bit tired after a visit to the vet. Without further info, hard to give you any sound advice. But if he just went to the vet and got checked out, most likely he is okay...keep us posted... |
It's hard not to overreact with a new pup, right? But if it is any encouragement, Bingley slept a ton as a new puppy . . . you yearn for those days after a bit. How old is your new addition? |
Thanks so much for the replies!! He is 9 weeks today! I have been talking to the vet alot and she is saying to bring him in if symptoms get worse, but things are turning around for the better. I am thinking he just needed to get used to his new environment. His poop is a little soft, but definetly not runny! So that is a good thing since its a beginning sign of Parvo. He should be okay! And youre right! Man, do they sleep alot! |
Kenny was really lazy for a day or two after his third round of shots so not too surprising on that end. As far as panting, Kenny still pants somewhat frequently....he doesn't seem discomforted but just pants quite a bit. I've heard it's a puppy thing but wouldn't mind getting opinions on the panting. Vet said it's not a big deal if it's not hoarse or sounds weird. |
@Eggbert My vet said the same thing. It is normal, until it doesnt sound normal (hoarse, etc). |
