Thryoid pill: twice a day for Rudie Probiotics: 1/4 teaspoon with every cup of food, mostly because Marley was getting diarrhea from the food we wanted to switch her to. Cosequin: Both dogs are getting a glob with their dinners now, mostly because of Marley's increasing arthritis in her knees. Preventative for Rude boy. Fish oil: For Marley's knees, also the dog's coats and general health. Silica: This is in the mail, but we got it per the advice of one of the holistic vets we are going to start seeing because Marley's paw pads were tearing almost weekly. Rimadyl: We have this for Marley, but it makes her urinary incontinent so we're not using it. Urinary incontinent pills: See above. Not using this now either, but we will if she starts to really need the Rimadyl. Gas-x: For Marley because she has been getting the "gulps" which apparently is something that other dogs have experienced and gas-x has helped with them. Hasn't been helping to fix the problem, but we're hoping it will help as a preventative. Temporarily Marley is also on antibiotics for scabby/itchy skin from what we think was an allergic reaction. It's hard to keep everything straight at meal time around here! |

Melissa and I finally figured out the trick that will remind us to take our daily vitamins/supplements... We started putting the bottles in the shower caddy that houses all of Izzie's supplements. For her entire life we have remembered to give her cranberry pills, fish oil...etc...so we moved our bottles into her caddy and take our pills in the morning when we feed her and give her her pills. To commiserate with Heather...Izzie gets: Probiotics twice a day cranberry pills twice a day fish oil everyday currently no prescription meds |
We're in the same boat...Bowie gets thryoid twice a day and tylan powder capsule once a day...bella gets DES once a day twice a week...both get probiotic powder in the evening meal and a small scoop of Caneva for bones. We also have a doggy medicine cabinet with all the misc we are not taking at the moment...panalog, flagyl, deramax, tramadool, ace, ear drops and antihistamines... I actually keep a small book on the counter to keep track of who gets what when.... |
Yep, we have a box where all the bottles live, right next to the dog food. DH does the feeding when most pills handed out, I would be lost for a moment or two. Then the butter holder in the refrigerator.....the one with the fold down door, that's the refrigerated drug store. In there are older dog med, not yet expired, that might be needed before we get to the vet. Actually, they helped me out during a severe blizzard and New Year's Weekend. |
I'm laughing because I have several unopened bottles of vitamins that I have never been able to get in the habit of taking. Putting them with the dog's pills is a good idea though! We added an anti-nausea and new antacid last night... |
What;s the anti nausea? Is it for you or the dogs? That sounds like one I want to keep on hand for both! |
Welcome to my world! I have a spreadsheet taped to Oscar's medicine cabinet (yes, he has his own ) with the latest med schedule. I know it by heart, but if something were to happen to me, hubby would have no clue what Oscar gets and when. Oscar is currently taking metronidazole, famotidine, prednisone, diphenhydramine, tramadol, amitriptyline, and thyroid-tabs. Those are his regular meds. Right now, he is also on Zeniquin and Cephalexin for the MRSA and E Coli. Plus probiotics and colostrum. I take nothing. Nada. Zip. Okay, just a multivitamin, but nothing prescription. I think Oscar makes up for it! Laurie and Oscar |
