Vance and Jen we WONDERFUL hosts!!!! Everything was perfect!!! And...I don't know how they did it~~The weather, looking a little iffy in the early morning (at about 2AM... ) but when we arrived at the dog park, it warmed up and was a beautiful day!!!! The food was plentiful and AWESOME!!!!!! Vance's Bacon Explosion was a HIT!!!!! Lisa's Sheepie shaped human cookies were so pretty and delicous and the dog treats...well, all the pups loved them!! Cindi Sheepie Shaped Human Cookies were soooo pretty too!! and YUM!!!!! Erin and her lovely treat bags for all the sheepies and other human treats!! Everyone contributed a varied selection of fresh fruits, healthy granola bars, drinks, paper products..etc.etc.. It was all so much fun!!!! ALL of the sheepdogs had a BALL!!! The puppies so were adorable and Shubert still had a tinge of PUPPY BREATH!!! Which was the icing on the cake for MMMEEEEEEEEeeeeeeEEEEEEeeeee!!!!!! Caitlin was so cute and Teddy is getting to be such a BOY!!!!! Olive, Denise's new sheepie. is sooo sweet!!!! And it is obvious that they have a strong bond in such a short time. And Sierra???? what a sweetie!! Olive has a great best friend!!!! Nelson was his wonderful self and even brought a very lively 'friend'...Maverick....WHAT A sweetie..I fell in love with that boy..Personality PLUS!!!!!! Having read so much on Frankie and Mattie, I was so happy to meet both of them...and of course, Lisa and Troy!!! That Frankie ...WOW... I would be staring into those ICE blue eyes ALL the time if he were mine!!!!! And Mattie???? She was having a ball!!!! Pheobe, Winston ..so beautiful!!!!!!And Kippy>> Kippy held her (his) own with those big fluffy balls of fur!!!! Andie??? a dolly.... I am certain that Gertie and Heart are related in some way..they looked so much alike !!! Speaking of HEART???????? akaJelly.. What can I say???? I know she had a lot of fun WATCHING all the sheepies run around and have fun and socialize.... HOWEVER, she was very freaked out by all that wet, kind of muddy, really yuckkkky...stuff on the ground, and she didn't have her boots cuz I forgot them PLUS...you know...""DAD""" was there!!!! and he is NEVER there..so she thought, since ""MOM"" was ignoring him the whole day,,,,(she was so busy talking and talking and talking) she felt obligated NOT to LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!!!!! (Just needed to explain 'her' shyness.....)) The MUM show was so fun...So many people were coming up to us, saying ..."there is that sheepdog AGAIN~~~"" and so we explained that there was a gaggle of sheepies at the fair...not just one.... For dinner Cindi, Vance, Jen, Dino and I all met at Outback for dinner and spent an extremely relaxing evening just talking and laughing and getting to know each other...which, of course is ONE of the reasons we get together!!!! Once again....thank you Vance, Jen...and everyone who attended making this a very successful event!!!!!!! ...Heart Dino and I will all see you again at SHEEPIEPALOOZA 2012... And since we know how to get there now...We are planning on attending The Second Annual SHEEP-IN in 2012~~~~~ |
|
It looks like a fun time. I hope we can attend next year! |
We have to make it next year. It sounds like a great time was had by all. |
So glad all of you from further away were able to make it! Wish we could have stayed around to have dinner with all of you. Maverick is a sweetheart but a not totally comfortable in the car yet. Best not to push our luck and having something happen again... When we first arrived at the car park we opened the window a bit and he managed to parachute out the window. There he was, hanging off his harness attached to the "zip line" looking like a skydiver who was stuck in a tree. Then he proceeded to trip me in the parking lot, fell flat on my face. Then proceeded to soft-serve poop on the asphalt parking lot. Guess he had to go. Yeah, he needs some work, hopefully he'll be adopted soon. Can't wait to see more photos from the event. Had my hands full yesterday so nothing for us to post. |

Ditto on everything! Teddy and I had a great time! The food was great and plentiful and Teddy loved the homemade treats as well. Teddy had a great time running with the big dogs. He was one soggy mess after all that running in the wet grass and mud. Thank you again Lisa for the use of the extra towel! He fell down a few times and I was afraid he might get hurt trying to play with the adult dogs so it was time for a break for him. After he calmed down I took him back in to play with Caitlyn and Schubert. Those two little babies are just too cute! I don't know how many times I picked up Schubert to snuggle him! They grow up so fast. It's hard to believe it was just 5 months ago that Teddy was last size. After the dog park we went downtown to the festival and walked around for hours. We walked around some with Nelson and Maverick. Then went off in another direction and walked some with Heart. After more wandering there was Schubert. Of course I had to snuggle him one more time before he left. Then as we were about to head back to the truck to get Teddy a drink I heard my name being called and it was Vance, Jen, Zoey and Caitlyn! After our short drink break, we met up again and walked around together. Vance got Zoey, Caitlyn and Teddy some ice cream. This was Teddy's first time having ice cream and of course he loved it! I got a few pictures of Teddy and Caitlyn relaxing together and a few with the 3 of them sitting together. What a wonderful day we had with everyone! And to top off that great day, I went to dinner with Val, Dino, Vance and Jenn. It was so nice spending time chatting and getting to know each other. Vance and Jen, thank you so much for organizing this great get together! It's a lot of work and you did a great job! It was wonderful to meet everyone and see people again I had met from Sheepiepalooza. Oh, Val didn't tell this funny story from Friday night. Val and I were taking Heart and Teddy for a walk and had stopped at the busy corner just down from our hotel. We were standing there talking just waiting with the dogs, giving them some exposure to the traffic noise and this woman jumps out of a car and runs across the street and yells "Sheepdogs"! She said she has 2 sheepdogs and has never seen any others around town. She was with friends and they just drove back around and patiently waited until she was done talking with us. We told her about the Sheep-in the next morning and she was welcome to come join us. She brought one of her sheepdogs and had a good time. Sure enough we ran into one another again at the festival! She was so nice and friendly and thrilled to know there were other sheepdogs in the area. I told her about the forum. I'll get some of my pictures posted later also. Cindy |
HOW could I forget THAT???? I think BOTH of us were dumbfounded when we saw her jump from the car, (thank goodnes they were at a RED light... ) But, this is the way sheepies lovers react when they see one and, in truth, we all should be used to it!!! I was very happy that she did show up at the dog park and seemed to just blend in with everyone. One of the staff, from LaQuinta complimented our OES group saying that all of them were so well behaved and friendly~ I witnessed a few dogs that were unruly and very barky, especially when they passed us, as our 'furkids' just sat there, watching..... One more 'memory"~~ As we were relaxing outside the motel after our great dinner on Saturday evening, we had a SKUNK scare!!!! Of course the odor was awful as I saw 'it' walking across the parking lot about 30 feet from us..Being a city girl ~~I was ready run to into the motel, Cindi calmed me down and told me to keep watch, and if "Peppi la Pue" got any closer to let her know and follow her cue. Thanks goodness 'it' just went on it's merry way, walking AWAY from us!!!!!! |
The woman from the car, Harmony, emailed me this morning some pictures she took of Teddy running around the dog park. I gave her my email address when we saw each other at the festival later. I sent her the link to the forum and told her that's how I met all these great people and their sheepie's. I forgot about the skunk Val! I'm so used to seeing them around my neighborhood that it's just a everyday thing around here. Cindy |
Vance made Bacon Explosions?? DAMNIT!! Now I'm really sad I missed this! Plus Heart, oh sweet butterball Heart... |

It's actually on the way to St. Louis. My house is only 3 miles off Interstate 70 as you drive through. Pencil this in for next May... I could have some Bacon Explosion waiting for you. mmmmmmm bacon.... Caitlyn has offered to wash your face afterwards. Vance |

No, not yet and I hope never! Cindy |
Okay everyone. Be careful what you wish for! Fred put 1,200 (yes, that's one-thousand two-hundred) photographs from Saturday's gathering on a disc and gave it to me. All at the dog park because they didn't come to the festival with the rest of us. Anyway, I begged him for a few pictures but got them all instead. I've had my hands full with rescues this week and haven't gotten any of them put up here on the forum. I'll try to do this after Nelson's therapy visit tomorrow. If anyone wants a disc of the pics please let me know and I'll get one for you. Be warned that he's got everything from photos of mud puddles, dog poop someone didn't pick up (prior to our group) and license plates of everyone's cars! Fun stuff. There really are some good ones, too! If anyone has a good way to share on-line without spending too much time on it I'm open to suggestions. And if anyone is interested in adopting Maverick or a few other young dogs that Midwest Old English Sheepdog currently has, we are taking applications! |
I have a photo bucket account and that's where I warehouse most of my photos. It's easy to set up and fairly quick to upload if you have a reasonable connection. I do it at work where we have a killer connection. I'll help if you want. Vance Btw, I'd LOVE copy of the CD! |
Yes, I would also love a copy of the CD! I'll pm you my info. Cindy |

If I sent you the disc would you be able to work with it? I can still burn some copies, I think. |
