Good job!! Each day is easier, as there is less prep and grooming. Love your pictures, even tho' we just got a peek at your attire...but the shoes look darn good! |
NICE JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kristine |
Good job Millie! |
Thanks everyone!!!! We will post an update after today's show, but not really expecting much as we have more competition today including a champion bitch |
Today (sat) we got two ribbons, one for 12 to 18 months and one for reserve winners. However, we did not perform well. We we out of sync the whole time and she paced several times---something she rarely does! Oh well, we will try to pull ourselves together and do better tomorrow. |
Good luck today! |

If she starts to pace give her a quick pop with the lead to snap her out of it. They'll do that some times, especially on the down and back. Well done recognizing that she was doing it and fingers crossed for today. Kristine |
Can you explain what pacing is? I need to attend another dog show-the first time we went we were overwhelmed with all the cute sheepies and just didn't sort out what was happening. |

It's the same pacing a horse who is a pacer (sulky races) does - the left and right side move together; instead of opposite like a trotter (which is the proper gait for a dog in the show ring). I even have a picture a friend took of us in the ring...would have been a great picture except for the pacing! Pacing is a somewhat normal gait for the OES, it is energy conserving and an alternate gaiting pattern. It just isn't correct for in the ring. Many older dogs also pace, as it's easier on their body. If you look around at dogs, I'm sure you will see it, as it's not that uncommon. Start out with older, overweight dogs - most of them do it! |
Thank you! And thanks, Millie, for providing us information on your experience. I really enjoy learning the nitty gritty details of sheepie activities. |
Millie is on her way to be a CH....and have much fun on ther journey!!!! |
Great job again today! See, I learn something new everyday. I never noticed pacing. Now I'll have to pay more attention to see if Teddy does that in the ring. I'm usually just trying to keep him under control from dragging me at full speed around the ring. The boy loves to run and I sometimes think he is a sled dog wannabe! Cindy |
I'm soooo excited!!!! Today in the mail I finally received Millie's official picture from her first show. So proud of it, except for my double chin |
That's awesome! Cindy |
