This is bath number 2 in a week as they had fleas and I didn't want to do topical on babies I absolutely love these pups BUT, pups are not easy by any means!!!!!!! Who knew that a pup could pee more than its body weight! I am enjoying the smell of baby shampoo flying around the house now though Trying to bathe off the pee stains from where they came from is a slow process but, we will get there! They are loves and two are deaf but, I have homes lined up for pretty much all of them They are all boys!!!!!!!! So much fun! |
|
Well some pics when they don't look so sad Not saying this is my favorite boy BUT................ |
So adorable....easy to fall in love with them all...where's Momma? So glad they have homes...would be too easy to talk myself into another one! |
Poor babies Fleas can be dangerous on puppies, plus they likely have tapeworm as well.... I would go ahead and use a topical on them. Advantage can be used on puppies and kittens safely, I've even used it on nursing rescues (remember Abby?) (but don't use it right after a bath as their pores are still too open) A litter of pups is a ton of work, expecially at that age! When do they leave for their new homes? |
Thanks for rescuing ALL of these dogs and puppies! I know you have been busy lately! Poor dogs.... so sad to think that they lived in such conditions! They are so lucky to have been saved! |
How do you end up with a whole litter of young pups in rescue?? I wish them all long happy lives in permanent loving homes!! |
Willowsprite wrote: A litter of pups is a ton of work, expecially at that age! And there's your answer to how you end up with a litter of puppies in rescue. And also why less serious breeders, shall we say, are happy to unload them at young ages It's a tremendous amount of work. And I'm with Stacy - flea meds before you drive yourself crazy. And check w/your vet as to if and when it might be advisable to treat for tapeworms Then start getting them into their new homes. They're old enough and they can benefit from more one on one attention now. Plus I'm sure you need a NAP. Or ten Do you have experienced deaf dog homes? Kristine |
Holy crap I can't believe I typed "expecially" That WAS a typo lmao. I should stop typing in the dark. |

That also includes swapping from 12 hour days, to 12 hour nights and back to 12 hour days. I am so ready to NOT have my alarm go of tomorrow at 5:20!! |
how much fun they look but i am sure alot of work.. enjoy them !! |
The fleas are gone! We gave Capstar and have flea combed away. They have also received 3 days of Panacur Vet appointment is this Friday so, they are good to go. They will be moving on to new homes asap! |
Are they all spoken for already? I want one, or two, or three... |
HeatherRWM wrote: Are they all spoken for already? I want one, or two, or three... I am pretty sure they won't be here long! |
On the flea front the vet recommended Vectra which we will do but, I haven't quite figured out how to keep them all from chewing on eachother |
What a bunch of cuties. I love the second picture; looks like a bunch of ducklings following their momma. And how cute is the last one; baby boy giving momma a kiss. |
Just so you know droncit is the med of choice to treat for tapeworm if they have it. Chances are they do if they were infested with fleas, but it probably won't show up on a fecal yet.... just something to keep in mind. |

And I know it by it's generic name - praziquantel - as it's used as a livestock wormer too. Actually a human wormer for tapeworms, liver flukes and the like as well! |
This isn't our first go round with flea infested fosters If the Panacur does not work I will use Drontal Plus as always |
they are sooooo cute but I know a ton of work!! I bet you sleep for a week after tha last one is placed..... |
4dognight wrote: they are sooooo cute but I know a ton of work!! I bet you sleep for a week after tha last one is placed..... Sleep, what is this word you speak of? Pee, I know that one! They are actually really good babies if I could just keep them clean for a day I would be thrilled |
Those boys are too cute, and cuddly. Nothing brings a smile faster than someone else's puppies. The last picture looks like or could be a new addition?? |
Quote: The last picture looks like or could be a new addition?? ^^ I think Kathy's had her puppy fix. (And I've heard people have asked... NO! I'm not getting one either!) Kathy worked for a vet for 10 years but still has had to listen to me throwing advice at her. Every day I'm asking... have you chosen the families? So when are they going to the vet? Watch out for tapeworms if you've found fleas! Don't put the puppies on the floor at the vet...carry them in, leave the others in the car with Marty. Want me to write Dr. Dodds about the vaccinations thing? Separate any skinny ones at feeding time to make sure they're getting enough and don't have to compete. Don't post the litter online or you'll be bombarded... umm... never mind, she didn't listen to that one. Snort. Thanks for putting up with me, Kathy! |

No, Brenda, now newbies needed here right now! I do love them to pieces though! We are all just going a little crazy around here! Both me and the dogs...Marty looks forward to going to work Pretty bad when your foster dog goes and sits by the gate saying "Please let me outta here" The good news there is she goes to her new home Saturday |

Didn't mean to interject unnecessary info, most people (even experienced dog people) are not aware of the different meds for various parasites etc Not at all Stacey...I always need a little help from friends! I certainly respect all your knowledge with puppies and it is good to have it on the thread for future referance. I didn't mean to sound rude at all Sometimes I get in a hurry and it sounds short. Forgive me?? I may see if we can also start them on Iverheart Max as it treats for Tapeworms as well, that is what mine just got I do wonder though if a dog eats the feces from an infected puppy can they get them or is just through the fleas?? I try to catch it all as it comes out but, they don't stick close together these days Georgie sometimes tries looking for snacks |
