Peeing all over the place!!!!

So Kenny was so good about not peeing inside and always peeing on the grass...well a week later and he's now decided to pee everywhere. He peed 5 times in 30 minutes and 3 of which were inside at teh same spot even after we cleaned up and sprayed with odor remover.

Also, from the apt do the grass we go through a paved community area and now he decided to pee here too when he needs to. I don't know what to do...he'll be too big to carry outside soon, especially for my wife.

Am i over-reacting and it's a puppy being a puppy or you have any advice?

I don't think the breeder really trained them AT ALL about peeing based on what I saw.

He is still very young. The breeder would not have had much of a chance to train on that, if you got him at 8 weeks of age. He is little, he is sorting it all out, testing the rules and boundaries, I bet.
That's a lot of peeing!

Did Kenny have an unusual amount of water before the accidents? It might be a normal housebreaking issue, but with that frequency, I would be concerned about a urinary tract infection. If it continues, or gets worse, I would give the vet a call.

But he's most likely just being a puppy, and a piddler...... :D

We also had the same issue with Caitlyn. Our cure was to not let her drink more than a couple of big slurps when ever she wanted and we stuck to a VERY strict trip outside every two hours, whether she needed to go or not. Within a day or so, things started to smooth out. We went a week of this schedule and then started to relax it and she was doing good. Yeah we still had some incidents, but they were fewer and farther between.

Hope this helps.

Its been five years but I remember like it was yesterday. I thought Simon would NEVER learn to go outside.

Finally at four months old we decided this dog needs to go outside every half hour...really. If we waited an hour it was a puddle on the floor. So thats what we did. I don't remember how long it took. We dogsat a friends nine month old dog who was mostly house broken and after that weekend it was magic. No more....not one puddle in the house. :bulb: :bulb: :bulb:

You do need to remember that yours is just a baby. Make sure that you are consistant and confine to an area that can be easily cleaned.
It takes months, especially with boys since their plumbing matures at a slower rate. Be grateful it isn't -20 outside for your 30 minute visits outside.
It's important to rule out a UTI first... you can probably just drop off a sample to your vet.

Was he taken outside to potty during this time or were the messes just cleaned up? Wondering if he just might
not have emptied his bladder so kept repeating the behavior.

If it's normal, then it's probably because Kenny's just a wee baby. He's only been in this world 10 short
weeks... just not enough time for anyone, breeder or owner, to reliably house train a puppy. It takes time
for the puppy to mature, time to train and learning to read the dog's signals.

That's probably the key word... "needs". If the walk is very long to where he is supposed to potty, just the
excitement of going outside may cause him to pee along the way. He likely doesn't understand there's an area
you've designated for him to do his business and he can't hold it. Good boy for at least going outside. :D

Just the way we do it here...
We don't give a puppy free run of the house... that's earned as the puppy gets older and more reliable.
We start out with play and exploration in one puppy-proofed room that's tiled. They are allowed in other
areas of the house but only when someone is watching them closely to offer correction/distraction... or
cleanup if we missed the puppy's signals they were going to pee/poo. Water is picked up at 7-8pm and
put back down when we get up unless it's real warm out or there's an illness. But if there's a UTI, I want
them flushing their system with adequate water.

The moment the puppy wakes up, they immediately go outside.
Immediately after eating each of their 3 meals, we take them outside.
In the middle of play, we stop and they go outside.
Before a nap, we take them outside.
Just before we go to bed, we wake them up and take them outside.
If they bark in the middle of the night, we go outside, then get a small drink and back into their crate.
When we go outside to play, we go to "the fence" first for them to potty and after that we play.
We also teach them to potty on command... softly telling the puppy to "do your business" and when
he/she does, praising them with a "good boy/girl".
But in the end... pee and poo in the house can and probably will still happen.

Bumble was 11 weeks when he arrived and had maybe 5 accidents ever in the house and they were all our
fault. Kaytee took 1 year to reliably house train... it was difficult to read her signals because she ALWAYS
dances around wanting to go outside.

Each dog is an individual so training time varies. With more time and training, you'll get there!
Once again you guys come through with awesome responses! I think it was just a freak thing because today (although he had an accident being my fault), he also has not had excessive peeing. He's also held it EVERY time in his crate so dont thin he has an issue.

Also, started running/jogging in the common area so he doesnt get distracted haha. It's worked so far :)

So we'll see....it's a day to day journey for sure and I know he's just a pup.

Also, he is somewhat good on leash, somewhat not...he doesn't mind it as long as we're going when he wants haha. Sometimes a little tug and he follows...toher times he just 4 plants his paws hahah.
We keep forgetting that Schubert is a puppy because he's already so big!!!!!

He prefers fluffy surfaces to pee on, like rugs, carpets, and grass.
We got rid of all the rugs in the living room and den area, and potty training has gotten better!!!!.
He still drinks as much water as he wants, but he drinks much less than he did the first week!
We haven't had an accident in 3 days and I can tell his bladder has grown and he can hold it in for longer~

Hang in there~ he'll improve. You'll be so proud when you see him sitting in front of the door with the look of wanting to go out for a pee~
I was another one that felt like a failure at the peeing game. We had trained several dogs but Butchy was the one that no matter what we did he went and it could be often. Of course the fact that we got him just before Christmas in the miserable weather didn't help but it seemed to take forever.

He never went in his crate and he could got for 10 hours in there with no messes so we knew he could hold it and we also had him tested with not problems so I think it does happen some times that they take a long time.

The only issue we have now is that he tells us he has to go but if we miss it, too bad for us. We tried the bells by the door etc but guess we weren't smart enough to get him to use them. Now we just watch and listen for his signals.

He goes to bed around 10:00 at night, won't go out before Carl goes to be and sleeps in until well after 9:00 with no issues so we know he can do it.

We do know too that sometimes he goes out, gets distracted and comes back in then in a bit he's running like crazy to the back door because oops I forgot.
Well Kennys peeing was much more "normal" today. Nothing like yesterday where he had those 5 times. We think maybe he just kept smelling his pee cuz it couldnt get cleaned up fast enough. He did have some runny poop today but we are in process of moving him from Pro-Plans to IAMS so working in little by little. Overall this was his first kinda nasty poo so I'm not too concerned.

Puppies are just so funny....i dunno who said it but it's true...all they do is drink, eat, poop, pee, play and sleep. There is no in between...he's either playing and chewing a toy or laying and sleeping....if not that he's doing something he shouldnt be hahaha. It's such a love hate relationship...i love the fact he's a puppy but am secretly hoping he grows out of puppy habits soon. But then he does something amazingly puppy-like...aka falls flat on his face as he runs and trips over a toy and I want him to be a puppy forever.

PS - Wife had to teach me how to groom...i had no idea even though the breeder showed us....couldnt figure out how much pressure to put or anything....gave her the comb and he was falling asleep in minutes.
Consitency is the key......
I have a litter of male puppies in rescue and they are getting better but, man do they pee!
Drink, go outside..Eat, go outside...
If they start to piddle I just pick them up and take them out.
Constantly we tell them how wonderful they are for doing their business outside :clappurple:
Actually, the little deaf dude in the litter barked at the door tonight to go out so...woohooo
I have NEVER had a litter of pups so, I can not imagine that a breeder could potty train the whole litter 8O

Treat, treat, treat!!!!!!!!!!
Give that baby a :high5: and a cookie when he potties outside!
He is still a baby..it will turn around soon!
Great to hear things are working out so quickly. We were privately freaking out as much with Caitlyn.

Like Kathy said, 'Consistency is the key......'

So quick question regarding pee.....he gets really excited when he meets new people...and every time i take him out he meets about 15 people since EVERYONE stops haha (the world loves sheepies). Anyway, when he meets new people he always starts peeing....not like a full pee but droplets as I like to call "happy pee"....now I know tons of other dogs who do this but is there anyway to...make it stop?

I'm guessing not....1) because he's a puppy and 2) I can't yell at him because of a natural body response when he's meeting people.

Anywho, thought i'd ask if it stops at some point hahaha. I'd rather have a happy dog who loves people and pees a bit than a mean one any day like my Wife's old room mate's dog (disclaimer: I love this dog but he only likes me and about 4 other people)
