Momo and the cats (update)

Praise God! I'm starting to make some progress.

I listened to stormi's advice about giving her a quiet spot - unfortunatly my parents wouldn't let me set up a blanket anywhere. :? However, I decided to try out the quiet spot technique with her crate. I began showering her with treats when she went in - and now she is doing it very peacefully. I barely hear a while out of her anymore. I'm going to start using "go quiet down" when we go into the crate after she has been bouncey.

It was wonderful yesterday - Halifax sat on my computer chair while Momo sat on the floor. They started off just staring at each other - I distracted Halifax with a toy and Momo with some obedience tricks and treats. They did really well for a really long time. Momo even went and ate and drank. It probably took twenty minutes before Momoko even decided to jump up on the chair with her front paws to get a good look. It's still a bit too close for Halifax - but he is fine with her as long as she doesn't invade his space.

Tigger is also doing well with her. I think she realizes that he won't slap her if she remains calm at his side. She can stand next to him, sniff him, sit next to him, but when she starts play bowing and trying to jump on him - the fun ends and she gets a slap from the old kitty cat (thank goodness Tigger is very gentle - he has never used his claws on our dogs). Once she begins running around him and barking - the fun ends and she goes back into the crate to relax.

Kiley... I am still having trouble with. He seems to be the only one she can't calm down around - but the other kitties success has given me lots of hope. I really don't understand it - but it's probably my fault that she is like this. I allowed her to hump and jump all over him to begin with - so I need to stop that... right away. Like I said though - I am very positive that I can fix this - she is doing much better with the others. Not perfect, but wonderful progress. I'm sure I'll be able to get her to ignore/be gentle with them soon.
