| Syracuse had almost 3 inches of rain yesterday. Binghamton, NY (about 1.5 hours south of Syracuse) had 10 inches yesterday.  The Susquehanna River is running WAY over it's banks and flooding alot of the Binghamton area. They are saying this flood is a historic one. Hope all of our members in the southern tier & Catskills areas are OK. Not to mention our members in PA,NJ,and MD. |

| I hope everyone is safe. My daughter is supposed to be driving through those areas in a week. But I would also love to have some of that water here. The fires are devastating. |
| Well, we are ok. It was really hairy there for a while. We are still taking on water, but there is nothing to be done about it for now. We do not have a sump pump, so we can only wait till it starts dropping. For those who have seen the rainfall maps, I am dead center of the highest rainfall area. I heard this morning a prelim estimate that we had gotten 15" + yesterday alone. I don't know how we are gonna get these kids back to school. Our district is now split by water, and all the bridges are either washed out or seriously damaged. To get to my sister's house 2 miles away -takes a 30 minute drive. We are taking it as it comes because there is nothing we can do. We are going to lose a lot of things that were in the basement, but in the end it is all just "stuff". We are ok, and that's all that matters. Mostly the people near the river were evacuated and most know what to expect there. It's the outlying areas (like me) that never had flooding that are in trouble. We went out earlier to show the kids what will be an event to remember, and it brought back memories of Agnes in '72. I was very young, but I remember that smell like it was yesterday. Once you smell that flood smell you will never forget it. Not our best. Earthquake, hurricane, and massive flooding all in less than 2 weeks. Can I be done now? Shellie |

We are not far from the conowingo dam that holds the susquehanna river back. Darlington, havre de grace and port deposit are all flooded They have 42 gates open on the dam. Not since the storm angnes came through have they had to open so many gates (I believe 1972??) I have put a call into the emergency management folks here to see if they need dog crates to help folks keep their dogs with them I cannot offer to help hold dogs as my whole back field id flooded and the barn had 6 in of water in it yesterday The roads leading out near deer creek have flooded I just feel so sorry for everyone I can at least help people have a crate to place dogs in They did not know what people were doing with pets  After Katrina I thought pets were put in the emergency plan!!!Stay safe everyone |
