Orrr just take them to a dog show with a thousand or so people wanting to pet it. LOL
That article is interesting, however, doesn't it imply that someone at any time would be able to walk up to the dog? I would not want my dog to accept a stranger if I am not present, it could be dangerous.... |

That article is interesting, however, doesn't it imply that someone at any time would be able to walk up to the dog? I would not want my dog to accept a stranger if I am not present, it could be dangerous.... These concerns are addressed in the article, you are with your dog- paying attention to your dogs reaction, keeping the stranger at a safe distance , use of a head halter, etc. Also addressed is the option of establishing this program through your vets office. Many vet offices today have a DVM on staff who specializes in behavior issues, can help you implement the program. In addition, many dog trainers who specialize in behavior issues can implement the program,(ie) take the strangers role. If there are safety concerns enlisting a professional to oversee the program is essential..including the exercise of introducing your dog to another dog. |
