We have the chance at a very nice quality female pup, parents ofa & cerf, from an exceptional breeder. She is 4 months old. She has never been around children, I have a 3 year old...her personality is fairly calm, for a pup...I saw her 2 months ago. What are the chances that at this age, not having been around young children, she would do well? Distance is too great to test with my child. Looking for any advice...thanks! |

4mos is still very young. You should do fine. Just remember children, especially an active 3 year old , should always be supervised aroun dogs of any age. 4 months is a great age, he will be able to hold his bladder for longer periods, ready to start some serious training. Goo Luck!! |
Almost perfect age, pups do well when they stay with the Mom until 12 weeks, whats another 4. |
I really appreciate your replies, that's kind of what I was thinking myself, this is a beautiful dog...I'm going to try and show her.
She's very sweet natured, and being a stay at home mom, I plan to devote this summer to loving and training, then handling classes start up in August. And yes, I'm always going to keep close tabs on the little one, as I don't want any harm to come to either my upright or my puppy! Thanks so much for your encouraging responses! |
Keep us posted on your puppy, I hope you get her. I think 4 months sounds like a great age to get a puppy, great time to go to puppy school, they're like sponges, they really do learn quickly!! |
