Apparently it's a common theme with Sheepdogs and agility... but still! We were practicing going through a tunnel, coming out, turning 150 degrees and going over a jump. FIVE times in a row I would be there, try and guide her over the jump, she would run wide and around me and BITE me on the knee. FIVE TIMES!!! It freakin hurt!!!! She's starting to really love agility, but she's getting very very excited... |

OUCH! Consistency in this case looks like it hurts! |
I know you guys are not really big into food rewards but for Simon...especially after I got bit the other day...it works. Right now I've gone a little low key, not getting "him" too excited. Letting him know he did good but not going over the top which results in...OUCH. |

After last class we decided that maybe it wouldn't hurt to use food rewards a bit. She has her tug from Chewie that she loves, too. For other things (like recall, for example) we trained her by just praising her up but in agility praising her up just seems to get her all revved up! |
Oh that makes the time spent on the whole "click through for fullsize" thingy so worth it... |
Yeeeeow! Did you bite her back? |
Ron's belly and now Dave's knee....... Yeah, I think food reward needed, taking bites from your knee can't last. |
Backchaining is what you need, David!! (OMG, I am asuming that was David posting, not Kim... ) Start with the jump....then back a ways and to the jump.....then the 150 degree turn and to the jump.....then tunnel, turn and jump! |
How about knee pads or armor? |
