Here Comes Irene in NY!
Although we were on mandatory evacuation, we did not leave...We are super prepared and I couldn't rest thinking my dogs were in another shelter facility than me...So we are all home. Big threat is the water surge. I live one house from the open Bay...BUT, it is now our first high tide and no problem. We have our pump ready to go in case, widnows coverred up and lots of supplies. Also ahve Van packed with food and soggy food and meds and water in case of a quick escape at last minute. Just started to rain BIG time...doga are happily chewing their everlasting ball...I am on high alert... Stay safe everyone and hopefully I will post again later... |

Pretty scary stuff stay safe all, another 24 hours to go I hear before the worst hits. They said on the news today NYC is in lock down. If you dont loose power let us all know it passed safely and your all OK.  |

| I hope Diane's power is just out since, I haven't seen her post anywhere. Hope they are ok Talked to Cindy and they are ok..no power, trees down on the road to her house but, all is well! Now, everybody else needs to check in  |
That's what I'm hoping. I didn't see her mention sandbagging around doors, etc. Since it will take awhile for power to return, we'll have to be patient.......ha!  |
| We survived unscathed. Our power never went out and we have no tree or water damage. However, it is a very different story around us. There is major flooding in the next town, including their school complex (they probably won't be able to open school on the Tues after Labor Day). All of the parkways and many local roads are flooded and closed and there are trees down and power outages all around us. We were just plain lucky. Kathie |

| Happy to hear someone made it without losing power. Ours just came back on after NINETEEN hours. All in all with how bad this could have been I guess we should be thankful. A little water in the basement some melted Fudge Pops (sugar free of course) in the freezer and Bailee was actually the one who got the most sleep last night. lol Say GOOD-NIGHT IRENE!!!!!!!!!! |

Glad everyone weathered the storm This power outage stuff is for the birds We can't even go out to eat but we can grill My hubby and son spent the day working on one neighbors generator never got it to work and another one had a propane one and it is not working either. Glad our little one powers the well pump and fridge and I can sneak on the computer to see what is up Sunnt but very breezy here now. |
| The rain stopped here about 2 hours ago. The sky is brightening and I can see a sliver of a red sky on the horizon. |

She is on the south side, I think she calls it  I know she is near Sayville... One of her friends posted that she got close to her house and water was up to her door  Do hope they are ok! |

| So glad that everyone seems to be ok. Just wondering since here in the mid-west, I didn't get the play by play: How was the evacuation? I mean, I know it was awful, but given the circumstances, do you think it went well? Power outages? Getting things back up and running? |
