Your house temp should be fine. We keep our thermostat at 80, it's been up in the 90s already this year, and Bailey seems fine. He does prefer the tile floor for his naps because it's cooler. He also drinks a ton of water, but with this weather I don't want to take any chances on him dehydrating. |
I was worried about that too. When Charlie was born and we were waiting till he got old enough to get him, he panted relentlessly. It was scary. I thought there was something really wrong. He still does it to this day - even when he's not exerting himself. He's been checked by the vet and has a clean bill of health. The vet thought there was something wrong with him too but there's not. That's just him. I also noticed that the pads on his feet were SO hot. No fever though. I guess that's just the breed or him. We keep the temp in the house between 68 and 70 and we had him shaved down. He prefers the linoleum floor in the utility room. He can only stay on the waterbed for 15 minutes or so before he gets to warm. |
