I know that there are some members out there who are really very tech savy so I wanted to pick some brains: My daughter would like to have a docking station for her ipod (classic) with speakers that she can take into the bathroom while she gets ready for work, etc. Not into the shower per se, but have sitting on a shelf without worrying about damage from all of the humidity. I had gotten her a logictech speaker/docking station which she really liked right up until it died. She is assuming that it died from humidity. I honestly don't know. Here's what I'd like: 1. Not expensive. I am thinking $100 to $200 range, preferably on the low end of that 2. Small enough to fit on a shelf of a small apartment bathroom 3. Durable and able to stand up to high humidity in a bathroom. Long showers + another girl in the apt = lots of long showers. If it were me, I would take it in and out with me as I got ready in the morning, but she'd rather have something she can leave in the bathroom. Any suggestions? |

That's cool, Stacey! I like the thought of this one, too: http://www.amazon.com/Smartak-Audio-Wir ... pd_sim_e_3 The iPod stays out of the humidity and the danger... ! Cool stuff. |
Thanks, guys. I looked hard at both those choices and a few more. After long and careful consideration, I decided to let her figure it out for herself. We usually give the kids money for birthdays/Christmas but also give them something to unwrap, usually something like books, cds, things like that. I decided to stick with that plan this year. |
Probably a good idea. About bringing the iPod (or iPhone) into the bathroom, I've brought mine in with me a couple of times when I didn't wanna miss a very important call... Not necessarily to answer it, just to know I need to hurry up and get to the phone to return it. I am VERY hesitant to do it because I'm afraid that the phone is cooler than the room and the humidity will condense inside the phone. So I put it on the vanity counter once, left the door ajar and when I was done in the shower rushed to get it out of the room. I didn't like the way that went! The next time I put the phone inside a plastic baggie maybe a ziploc type (but thin). I was very surprised to find out the touch screen still worked pretty with the iPhone still inside the bag! Just don't crinkle too much, unless you want the boss to think you're driving into a highway tunnel with the windows open. |
