From the context of where I heard it plus the internet reference as well as the definition of licklog itself I was able to glean that it means hiding behind a salt lick and popping up to attack the enemy. Has anyone else heard this colloquial phrase before? |

Well, if I weren't afraid it would be there and of what the definition might be, I would be tempted to look it up in the online urban dictionary. Not suggesting anyone actually do that. If there's a definition for that term, just reading it would probably give you nightmares for a month. |
Ron, some examples. Older lawyers used it and now some young ones have picked up on it. Its original wording no doubt was licklog as a hunter putting out a salt lick, then shooting game from behind it. From a blog: Quote: In Texas, there is an expression about "laying behind the log". Not sure about lying behind the lick log ... however I have heard of down to the licklog meaning: The phrase "down to the licklog" relates to the second to last thing cattle did before they died. It was an old rancher trick to take them to the salt lick and then to water to increase the weight before slaughter. |
